Had a lovely chat with a chap (he was male - I made sure to check with him how he identified ;) I said one could never be sure...) who was door knocking in the run up to local elections. I'd say which party, but tbh it makes little difference these days.
Anyway, we back and forthed (he had an awful lot of "but that never happens", which I was able to provide examples for, thanks to you kind lot), and he gave me the solution to the eternal question "but how are women to know which penis-havers are a threat in female spaces, and which ones are the "safe "female" kind of penis-havers", if women's spaces are opened up to anyone who wants to claim they qualify for access to them on their own say so?".
The answer?
If the safe kind of penis-owning women are allowed in, then it actually makes it SAFER for women, because there are more people in those spaces to then challenge any penis-havers who may have identified themselves into those spaces with nefarious intent.
Honest to goodness, I could not get him to see the total flaw in this logic, or the cyclical problem from the starting point.
But there's the answer. Let men into women's spaces and women will be safer.
