Good article. There does seem to be more and more dissent within the US.

But the real question should be, "Would you rather have a trans daughter or an effeminate gay son?" I fear that for many, if they were honest, the answer would be the former.'

Yes the homophobia in gender ideology is very concerning.

It’s an excellent article and a reminder of how very good the best American journalism can be, cutting directly to the heart of the matter in clear, well structured, readable English. Newsweek is an influential publication, and it’s interesting to see it publish such views. There’s a link on the page to another article of the same ilk:

I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone claiming to be on the Left or in the USA a 'liberal' can listen to the clearly spoken words of the mothers of the USA's most famous trans children and not think they were motivated by homophobia (with a side order of lucrative celebrity). It's in plain sight.

I believe that this is because of the news bubbles so prevalent among US users of the Internet. Most people do not consult sources outside their bubbles except by accident or as a 'hate-reading' exercise.

The lefties and liberals are likely to think of transgender rights issues exactly as if they were gay and Lesbian rights issues from the recent past. "Rights are not a pie" comes from that group. Most simply deny that any rights conflict here, and that's how they end up supporting very misogynistic and homophobic policies while feeling good about themselves.
