A Detailed Look At “The Family Sex Show”

Just for clarity & in case anyone jumps at the chance to call me a right-winger bent on denying women reproductive rights: I’m a socialist agnostic who has protested anti-abortionists.

And I know a child safeguarding hazard when I see one.

Performances planned in Bath, Bristol and Norwich.

DBS checks wouldn’t help. Before you get your dick out in front of kids you might not be a sex offender. The issue (I assume) might have been that the proposed performers worked out that they might be sex offenders afterwards?

'The Egg' theatre have protected their tweets.

‘The UK’s favourite theatre for children, young people and their families...’

I don’t know. That makes me think I’m going to see Mr Tumble’s spotty bag. Not all of Mr Tumble.

I don't even want to see Mr Tumble's spotty bag tbh.

tabbycatstripy · 17/04/2022 21:42

Well indeed.

tabbycatstripy · 17/04/2022 21:43

Yes, that podcast clip is VILE. Perverts.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 17/04/2022 21:48

@Absurdle

Using pleasure as a vehicle for consent.

Target audience: 5 and up.

In plain sight or what? I can’t believe that slogan.

What does that even mean - I genuinely don't understand what using pleasure as a vehicle for consent means for adults?
DomesticatedZombie · 17/04/2022 21:49

I think it means 'try it and see if you like it' or 'we'll start and you can consent after the fact'

tabbycatstripy · 17/04/2022 21:50

It means you should like what someone is doing with or to you, and if you don’t, you withdraw consent. All fine for adults.

But kids can’t consent.

theDudesmummy · 17/04/2022 21:51

It means telling children if it "feels good" it is good. It means sexual abuse without repercussions.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 17/04/2022 21:53

Thanks - sorry I really need to stop commenting when part way through a thread since I see I'm not the only me whose asked and it's been discussed already.

AlisonDonut · 17/04/2022 21:54

That podcast? OMG.

Absolutely but I’m willing to bet this bare minimum (and inadequate) safeguard wasn’t completed

"and then we cover you on rules"

JFC, I feel grubby just listening to that; not sure if I should just rip my skin off or a shower will suffice.

Lovelyricepudding · 17/04/2022 22:03

Using pleasure as a vehicle for consent

Go on, try it, you'll like it.

Organictangerine · 17/04/2022 22:08

Basically trying to make out consent is a matter of pleasure rather than law - that if one enjoys the sexual activity (or doesn’t hate it) then it’s consensual, regardless of age. Its sick.

theDudesmummy · 17/04/2022 22:11

And that is the real agenda...PIE all over again...

Coatandhat · 17/04/2022 22:11

And why the picture of an orifice amongst the arty figurines??

The arts council is publicly funded yes? So someone should put a FOI request in.

It is FOIable.

I still have goosebumps and I switched that off about thirty seconds in, several minutes ago. There are no words.

What parent would subject their child to that?

NotBadConsidering · 18/04/2022 00:01

“In recent days there has been unacceptable threat and abuse directed at both the company and the venues hosting the production by a small minority, and in order to ensure the safety of the performers, staff and audiences, the show will no longer play as planned at the current time.”

Threats? Threats to call the police they mean. Why, whenever companies release statements like this, they just never say “sorry, we were wrong”? Like the NSPCC with rubber wank man?

Pathetic.

LittleWhingingWoman · 18/04/2022 00:49

The NSPCC need to be on this immediately. Unless they are already in bed with them smugly smoking a cigarette.

I'm a 61 year old bloke, and I found that creepy as fuck. These people need their hard drives checked pronto.
