Deserves its own thread!

I refuse to even give the Guardian clicks now, let alone buy it/subscribe. I used to read it most days, for most of my adult life.

I know I'm not alone

God she's great. No one writes like Suzanne. I will never buy or subscribe to Guardian whilst this cowardly craven editor / trustees stay in place.

DisappearingGirl · 15/04/2022 10:07

I don't usually like personal attacks and spats, but I think this article is fair enough. Owen, if you can give it out, I hope you can take it

Floisme · 15/04/2022 10:08

I'll keep clicking for as long as Hadley Freeman stays. As I said on another thread, I think it's interesting that Moore specifically names her, and, as they know each other, I'm going to assume she does so with Hadley's blessing.

This is so much about the Guardian letting its female staff and readers down appallingly. I've tried not to click there much since it failed to report the Cologne sex attacks properly - over 1,000 women reported attacks in one night. That's six years ago and they've been misreporting women's issues ever since. Owen Jones is just the poster boy for it all.

ilovebencooper · 15/04/2022 10:14

The wi spa incident really finished me off.

Gatehouse77 · 15/04/2022 10:57

Fantastic piece of writing.

That was the first crack for me, too, the Cologne attacks (and there were actually similar attacks in at least two other countries on that same night), as no establishment feminist site had the spine to write about them properly or the brains to understand that sexism and misogyny are that even when carried out by an otherwise oppressed group of men.
Artichokeleaves · 15/04/2022 18:51

Good grief, was it really six years ago? Yes. That was a big wake up call to me too.

Yup. At the time I read extensively on feminist sites in four different European countries, and also in Canada and the US. The silence on almost all of those sites was shocking, their later mealy-mouthed half-hearted statements were even worse.

And the sites which did write about what happened were right-wing sites likely to be more concerned not about the mass sexual harassment but about it being carried out by the wrong type of blokes.

So nobody actually seemed to care about the victims. Laurie Penny noticed that they had mobiles and all.

Thanks for the article Smile
I've read a few Unherd articles this week, may need to subscribe!

DomesticatedZombie · 15/04/2022 20:24

It's a great article.

I cancelled my Guardian subscription a few years back - it had got gradually more and more queasy-making and irrelevant and ridiculous.

Snoozer11 · 15/04/2022 22:05

I had my right to comment forever revoked because I said that Starmer shouldn't win an election if he can't define what a woman is.

All this on an article asking what Starmer ought to do to get Labour into power.
