Interesting summary of Jess Phillips by voting record

gendercriticalwoman.blog/2022/04/11/jess-phillips-feminist-meninist/

I actually think MPs like Jess Phillips are worse than Starmer at least he says the four word mantra and is honest about his opposition to women's rights when they meet trans rights.

I don't have sound on my PC and the clip doesn't have subtitles. From the single line quoted above, it sounds like a start to me!

As I said, I am all for waiting, giving her, and others a chance to change their minds - for any reason. I remember only too well how I felt when the penny dropped for me. I went from defending one of my oldest friends and carrying the congitive dissonance due to 40years worth of friendship, to realising that he didn't need defending and I could say "A transwoman is a man" without anyone dying!

If Jess Philips wants to come to the table I am not going to put any obstacles in her way!

@GCAndProud yes I agree this is what I think too. She knows but doesn't want to face the difficulties of being publicly GC and will play along to keep her position

That's a very thorough article. I had thought that Jess was somewhat reasonable but that bill to make GI a PC and the attempt to eliminate the grounds for divorce are appalling.

I don’t think that article is fair. JP has done tons of work to help women and vulnerable people.

But that isn't what the article is about. It's about the fact that she's given incompatible statements in different interviews.

When asked directly she's been sympathetic, if unclear, on single sex space protection but the article cites her explicitly opposing them and working to eliminate them.

She is my local MP and my biggest gripe is how little she does for the area:(

Awkwardy · 14/04/2022 06:45

She said it on Times Radio as well.

Thank you for that link.

Labour politicians have been dragged to a position where they know they sound ridiculous if they say women can have a penis. On that Times Radio link the follow up question to Jess should have been does a man who says his gender is female have access to women's single sex spaces.

She went even further in that interview. In answer to the question "Can a woman have a penis" JP gave a don't be ridiculous laugh and said "No, a woman is an adult human female!"

I have little respect for someone who stood back whilst other women were thrown under the bus by Labour for saying the exact same thing 4 or 5 years ago.

She repeated the line about abortion, which is not correct. I wholly object to her bringing abortion into it, but especially to bringing in the line that the government whipped its MPs. There's no evidence of this. The government re-wrote the amendment so it was legally workable and then there was a free vote.

I'm sorry but this is not right or acceptable.
