Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

How has it got to the point where stating biology is akin to naziism? First GC outing today.

So it's ok to call a woman names whilst stating everyone should be respected and have equal rights (except biology catering realists apparently) but it's not ok to say women and girls menstruate, because that's hateful bigotry. How the fuck did this happen. It was my first GC outing today on social media and I wish I had the ovaries of steel that JKR has!

Because it's been in play for some time and
—there are no consequences for those making such claims with no evidence at all
—the people using those terms don't understand them
—belief if one's own infallible moral compass in the absence of supporting evidence is a very powerful intoxicant especially when it attracts valorisation and the approval of being on the right side of history.

The answer to your question of how has it got to this point is that too few people challenged the arguments when they were first popularised. Many thought that the issues would only affect an incredibly tiny minority which already is treated badly, and that it was better to be kind, given that the majority would be doing just fine. Also, we were told that this case is no different from the gay and Lesbian rights argument.

And those are the things many people still believe, though the situation is slowly changing. It will only change if more of us did what you did and engage in some courteous debate. So kudos to you, and I am sorry that you were treated badly for speaking up.

It's like they've all been indoctrinated banging on about equality yet not realised they are prioritising the feelings of others over those of the women these products are for.

Don’t forget how long it took her to arrive at this point. Remember the “fat fingers” era.

I don’t know which social media you used, but starting out as GC on Twitter is very painful. The real nasty activists are shocking and I would advise rapid use of the block button for those who appear to be genuinely vindictive and threatening. Beyond that, welcome. The more of us who can raise our voices, the better.

I don't use Twitter. I only follow links on here to see what has been said. Twitter appears chaotic to me and full of the brainwashed. I read bits and cheer for JKR and GC women. My 13 yo Dd is GC and doesn't give a fig if it's not cool to state biology. I'm very proud of her and we often discuss threads from here. She's rather 🤯 at a lot of gender woo. She's science based like her pronouns (if she's pushed to declare them).

I've just realised people posting on my SM post yesterday assumed my pronouns and gender. How dare they.
