schoolofsexed.org/blog-articles/2021/3/23/m1j83axky336c2pwq0huees8aq0kkm-62fbn

It describes itself as ‘rights-based, sex-positive, non-binary and trauma-informed.’

Among the (highly ideological) information on its website is this diamond:

Myth #2: All women have vaginas.

‘It’s a girl!’ the midwife exclaimed after looking at the baby’s genitals and deciding they fit the textbook description of female genitalia. Due to misconceptions surrounding sex and gender we often automatically assume that if you’re a woman you must have a vagina. However, genitalia is not an indicator of gender and assuming so erases the existence of intersex people, trans and non-binary people.

It provides a full list of schools and organisations it is involved with. Thought it may be one to watch?

Sorry, random letters there. Sexplain

MsGoodenough · 10/04/2022 22:36

Yes they used to be Sexplain. I used to think they were good but they are steeped in Queer theory. IMHO you can't teach sex Ed effectively while maintaining that men can have vaginas and women can have penises.

It ought to be illegal to have anything like this in schools.

They wouldn’t be allowed in schools anyway as they’re not DBS checked

I couldn’t find the list, OP. How do you find it?

@Organictangerine
Thank you. I am very surprised to see a Girls Day School Trust school there. How could they use this?!

BettyFilous · 11/04/2022 00:02

@PastMyBestBeforeDate

And Girl Guiding is a partner/supporter organisation.
We’re at the stage where we need one of those giant pinboards, map pins and string. There’s an incredible amount of overlap and back-scratching between all of these captured organisations. What a tangled mess!

I am at the point where I don't want to see outside "charities" coming into my kid's schools to talk about anything. There have been a few that were good, though mainly individuals rather than groups. But most have been a waste of time, and some are totally inappropriate.

Someone good at this sort of thing needs to set up a Trello board, if they’re still going. Only half-joking here…

Bold fail…..

WRT the first sentence: yes, adult human females as a class do have a vagina. So not a misconception.

But as for the second sentence, I agree. I am female (so as an adult human call myself a woman), and my vagina is not an indicator of my ‘gender’. It is an indicator of my sex. I have no relationship with ‘gender’.

Organictangerine · 11/04/2022 18:56

Carmen, but that muddies the water too much for sex education which is primarily about teaching biological fact (along with info on emotions, spotting unhealthy relationships etc). There’s a danger a ‘trans’ pupil won’t understand that their ‘gender’ doesn’t correspond to the consequences of sex for them.

I think of their website, amongst all the playdoh vulvas, they said they were suitable for kids 10-13 years, I couldn't find whose advice was sought to ensure the family sex show (ffs....so close) was okay for 5+. I know the answer.

SeanChailleach · 12/04/2022 15:12

Having read the website thoroughly, I am now very concerned. I hope other parents will question it too.

Dinosauria · 12/04/2022 15:40

I don't understand why all the imagery except the one picture of the condom is of vaginas/women's contraceptives. I mean I might be reading too much into this put is this page taking the piss?
