Useless BBC

Boris Johnson makes one of the most important statements of political views since 2016 and the BBC bury it on the sport pages as a sport story. Which it is, but only partly. This means if you use the BBC app and have not ticked sport as an interest you may well not even see it.

If you can be bothered complaining it is here

but the BBC are a lost cause on this now.

It's on the Politics section too, but only from the sport angle, not the rest of the statement which covered conversion therapy, Gillick competence and single-sex spaces. And of course he actually said 'biological males' not 'trans women', as the BBC has it.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 06/04/2022 18:30

Yes they're extremely biased in this issue. Fucks me right off tbh. They're supposed to be our impartial national broadcaster but it's very clear they are anything but. I used to fear the end of the license fee but the way the BBC have been reporting on this makes me think they don't deserve to exist in the current form. Its shamefulAngry

It's one of the top stories now. After Ed Sheeran's copyright case obviously.

WhyThatsDelightful · 06/04/2022 19:34

They’re not even close to acknowledging where they are. I’m having to clear up this mess they left behind, it’s wrecked my family for years. Misogynistic, anti-safeguarding and homophobic.

I can’t find this on the BBC news pages at all - I can only see drag stories. They are so biased.

Awkwardy · 06/04/2022 20:30

R4 6 o'clock news got their 'lgbt and identity' correspondent to report on it. All very one-sided. Also a weird and jarring reference to 'transsexual people'.

I think they misquoted Boris here
"Johnson was speaking on a range of issues, including the government's approach to the ban on so-called conversion therapy, before adding: "I don't think biological males should be competing in female sporting events. Maybe that's a controversial thing to say, but it just seems to me to be sensible."
www.bbc.co.uk/sport/61012030
Pretty sure he said biological men.

doublemonkey · 07/04/2022 00:08

Yes, they've misquoted him.

I wonder why they did that? 🙄

doublemonkey · 07/04/2022 00:13

Oops, sorry I meant they misquoted him in the headline and the photo caption. I actually think he did say biological males, not men, but they've reported him saying 'transgender women'

oldwomanwhoruns · 07/04/2022 09:18

On Radio 4 this morning - the 6.00 bulletin quoted Boris correctly, 'Biological males'.
But for the 6.30 news on R 4, they had edited the quote to be 'trans-women'.
So it's a deliberate changing of the facts. To fit the wokie-wokie BBC narrative. Shame on you, BBC.

The one good thing was that the 6.30 news actually made mention of the women's rights organisations and their campaign - it mentioned the Women's Rights Network by name, which made my ears prick up, as I'm a part of that gang Smile
