Have you asked your local government candidate what their views on women are yet?

Candidates are announced to day. Your local paper should have them. To contact by email (why wait to see if they canvas) you might need to use the generic email for the local party group and just put for candidate (name of candidate) in the subject.

If you are worried about your real name or email address being used by the unsympathetic, then get a free email under a slightly different name - your maiden name or middle name perhaps. You can make something up entirely but if I am asked is this really you I'd like to say yes with a straight face - as it is an election.

You can get a free encrypted email from Proton - very easy to set up and use. There is a paid version which you can pay anonymously apparently and get several aliases if want to keep work, politics and other stuff separate.

A email template is here if you don't know where to start:

We're on a roll with what Boris said today - let's make sure all parties, their candidates and local workers know we've had enough and want some straight answers about our status and security.

Thank you for the links.

I live in a Labour stronghold, as the saying goes “you could stick a red rosette on a donkey and it’d get in” in my area, so I’m planning on stickering my ballot paper.

Nevertheless I’ll send an email to all of my local candidates, as in the past 18 years I’ve never had one actually knock on my door.

Yes. Lib dem. Several times on twitter where he is active and by DM
no reply so I assum he doesn't know what a woman is

Have collared both a conservative candidate and a Labour canvasser quite successfully so far!

I dont need to. She is a prolific poster on our facebook community pages. Around 99% of her posts are about supporting trans-rights. I believe her adult child is non binary. There is the occassional post about something else but its so infrequent you could be mistaken for thinking she is a one issue candidate.

ChristinaXYZ · 06/04/2022 18:16

What might be useful @Onionpatch and anyone else in the same situation is to email the candidate care of the local party - them more than one person sees. Just change one person's mind, make one person think twice and about this will play out with the electorate.

I have emailed my MP - Tory. Nothing back yet

Our Police are also doing a campaign against VAWG - so I have done a FOI to ask them their definition of Women and Girls.

Also asked the old - 'if a man is arrested on suspicion of rape, and tells you he identifies as a woman - do record this as a crime committed by a woman ? ( already know the answer - and they do)

Just done it to first leaflet that’s come through the door.

To be fair, I don't need to know my local labour candidates view on women's rights to know there is no way I would vote for him. I can also guess what they are.

ProfessorLayton1 · 06/04/2022 20:28

Live in a marginal seat, represented currently by Labour. Written to the MP today expressing my thoughts. Labour not having my vote this time !!

I've done my tiny little bit by returning the Green Party's local canvas suitably endorsed, for their education! How's this?

My local area is doing the same campaign but called it gender based violence so I gave also done a FOI to find out why and who made that decision.

I had a chat on the doorstep with one of my local Labour candidates. His shoulders sagged a bit when I raised the subject but he was surprised to find that he agreed with what I said about women's rights, LGB rights and children's safeguarding.

He also said that this issue was coming up in doorstep conversations all over our area.
