An ex-councillor is currently on trial for historic child sex offences. It is worth remembering that one of the first things that councillor did when elected was urge the [elected] Mayor to make the toilets gender-neutral.

It never happens / In plain sight / If there's a loophole...

David Smith: a delightful person. He’s been featured on here before. Maybe when he was arrested? You can tell he’s a wrongun by his dodgy haircut

I was wondering what had happened to him. Trial kept getting delayed.

He was firstly brought up when he was demanding asking about "gender neutral toilets" and then again when he was arrested for the charges for which he is now standing trial.

Some men must really think they are untouchable.

Is it wrong that the first thing I do when seeing a news article about a politician and allegations for sex crimes is look them up on Mumsnet and see what their position has been with regard to women's rights and the whole trans debate?

I'm still waiting to see if certain anti-women Mayors and their many friends they've retained through one council position after another ever come to trial.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

For anyone who hasn't joined the dots:

Gender-neutral facilities give men readier access to children, who would otherwise be in the women's facilities with their mothers. (Of course identifying as a woman gives a male the same benefit.)

Gender-neutral facilities are also popular with misogynists, because they obviously disadvantage women, for all the reasons that women may need single-sex spaces.

Why so many councils and other authorities seem unable to grasp this is beyond me. The likeliest reason is too horrible to contemplate.
