I've just listened to this podcast over the last 2 days. Shocking! I"m sure there would have been a thread about it on here when it first came out, I must find it.

Who votes for these awards? Can we?

Ohnohedident · 05/04/2022 20:14

WooHoo!

DomesticatedZombie · 05/04/2022 20:16

Fantastic.

LangClegsInSpace · 05/04/2022 20:18

Brilliant! Have you got a link?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/04/2022 20:20

Here's a link to one of the early discussion on here ZaraSizeMedium

I think this was the main thread:

14th October 'Nolan Investigates' podcast - Stonewall?

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 05/04/2022 20:29

Very well deserved.

Didn't they say that people who had fearlessly reported on the troubles in Northern Ireland were intimidated by the toxicity of the trans debate, and advised them not to cover it.

Info is here:

I think the only public vote is for the Radio
Times moment of the year - but there are some interesting nominees:

Actually, the programme has two nominations: The Creative Innovation Award and The Impact Award.

FrancescaContini · 05/04/2022 20:40

Very very well deserved Star

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 05/04/2022 20:40

Brilliant news! Did anyone see Nolan interviewing @Glinner?

Redshoeblueshoe · 05/04/2022 20:41

Brilliant 🌟

LangClegsInSpace · 05/04/2022 20:45

It's shortlisted for two categories - creative innovation award and impact award. Nolan's regular show is also shortlisted in a couple of other categories. He's up against Woman's Hour / Emma Barnett in a couple of categories.

(I only picked up on it because I saw that The Battersea Poltergeist had been nominated).

Damn I wish we could vote. They'd storm it.

I listened to the podcast version, not sure if it was truncated.
Fenlandia · 05/04/2022 21:22

To the best of my knowledge, it's never been broadcast on R4 (would love to be corrected). I did complain to the BBC that it was so good it deserved to be promoted more widely, and to go to a wider audience, but I got an odd, mealy-mouthed reply saying that 'we understand you want it to be broadcast but we can't accommodate individual preferences' Confused

Rhannion · 05/04/2022 21:28

That’s excellent, well deserved nomination. Hope it wins at least one of the nominations

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 05/04/2022 21:35

Very well deserved. Nice to see some recognition for the creators.

Really? TBP was very enjoyable, but had more holes than a proverbial Swiss cheese. As did the equally enjoyable Uncanny.

But I digress. Well done to all at the Nolan Report. But I'd like them to follow up, as a lot has happened in the last year, and interview a few more women this time; and I'd like to know whether there have been any significant changes at the BBC, or whether they are just playing lip service to being more balanced and less influenced by Stonewall.

I found TBP really interesting, but did involve a fair amount of suspending disbelief. I think it was quite slick and blended drama and documentary very well - and Toby Jones is always great.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 05/04/2022 22:33

@McDuffy yes, I wondered if the version I saw had been heavily edited. Still, I really felt for him.
