Article in the Daily Mail today.

I have huge amounts of admiration for the young men and women who share their detransition stories. I really hope (but sadly doubt) that when schools talk to pupils about gender identity and transitioning, they also explain that some people detransition.

Me too - I don’t know why they don’t show stories like Sinead alongside those by the charities/lobby groups and also have stories from the likes of Scott Newgent (trans man) who is very open about the medical issues and illnesses/pain still felt after surgeries (and the way the surgeons behaved).

Idea of a financial incentive for prescribing cross sex hormones is appalling. Thank you Sinead for your bravery.

OhHolyJesus · 05/04/2022 08:19

Sinead is amazing, I really enjoy her you tube channel. She is brave of course but also incredibly intelligent and eloquent, and I enjoy a good, well-placed swear word!

So pleased to see her published in the mainstream. Long may it continue.

Flowers Sinead and Andrea

I find I learn a lot just reading Sinead’s twitter conversations. She is truly stunning and brave.

WalrusSubmarine · 05/04/2022 08:36

A lot of strong comments on that earlier (assume they are still there) - much more than the 7 bland ones allowed on the sports ones

When I told doctors at the gender clinic I hated my body and wanted to be a man, they never questioned why. If they had, they might have discovered that my body dysphoria wasn’t the cause of my problems. It was the symptom.

Exactly. And any questions as to the causes of gender dysphoria are called conversion therapy by stonewall.

Their agenda is so blisteringly obvious, I cant believe it took the government even this long to see through it.

Women here have known that women's objectification is one of the key reasons some want to transition. Known for years.

I have asked several transwomen on here whether they support research into a cure for gender dysphoria, given the apparent suicidal behaviour of those left untreated. They almost don't even understand the question. Those who did answer didn't want a cure.

Me too - I don’t know why they don’t show stories like Sinead alongside those by the charities/lobby groups and also have stories from the likes of Scott Newgent (trans man) who is very open about the medical issues and illnesses/pain still felt after surgeries (and the way the surgeons behaved).
For anyone who doesn't know the story:

"During my own transition, I had seven surgeries. I also had a massive pulmonary embolism, a helicopter life-flight ride, an emergency ambulance ride, a stress-induced heart attack, sepsis, a 17-month recurring infection due to using the wrong skin during a (failed) phalloplasty, 16 rounds of antibiotics, three weeks of daily IV antibiotics, the loss of all my hair, (only partially successful) arm reconstructive surgery, permanent lung and heart damage, a cut bladder, insomnia-induced hallucinations—oh and frequent loss of consciousness due to pain from the hair on the inside of my urethra. All this led to a form of PTSD that made me a prisoner in my apartment for a year. Between me and my insurance company, medical expenses exceeded $900,000,"
…
The point is that, as Scott writes, "trans health doesn't really have a justiciable baseline." If a surgeon botches your gall bladder operation, there are criteria by which to judge him or her. Or mastectomies, a relatively simple and straightforward procedure.

But, although increasingly common nowadays, "bottom surgery," still relatively rare compared to most surgeries, is extremely complex and fraught with potential downsides, even those done by competent surgeons. Not all gender dysphoric children go on to bottom surgery as adults, but gender dysphoric adults are the only people who get bottom surgery. The risks associated with these surgeries is something the "affirming" community should be—but are not—communicating to parents of dysphoric children. Instead, parents are led to believe that the lifelong medical interventions they are guiding their children toward (it is well known now that virtually all children who take puberty blockers go on to cross-sex hormones) are a benign sidebar to the holy grail of gender transition.

I got deleted last time I said what happened to Scott!

‘My little sister had been wiped out,’ says Andrea.‘Sinead was funny, quirky and loving. Sean was a woman-hater with a foul temper. Sinead had always loved me and looked up to me. Sean sneered at me and treated me like dirt

This seems to be a common theme. A lot of these young females project their own self loathing and anger onto other women.

The comments about her being an adult when she transitioned, so her own fault, piss me off. Yes, she was an adult, but clearly mentally ill.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 05/04/2022 09:12

We know this is because the adult males have very different reasons and motives to the young females. They simply won't allow it to be investigated.

Where is the supposed investigation we were promised into the 4000% increase in teen girls being referred to gender clinics?

Exactly.

And yes, where is it. Maybe the cass report will have something to say.

I think there is evidence that hormonal exposure to the baby whilst in the womb does cause gender dysmorphia, but the sad fact is that the vast majority of people being treated for it don't have it (both male and female), and there is an obsession with getting more and more people to go down this route of transition.

No one wants to discuss rapid onset gender dysmporphia, because they know that it's girls who have been indoctrinated by the pressure groups. And any talk of AGP is banned, because again that isn't really gender dysmorphia. Both groups are where you see detransitioning.

People who don't have gender dysmorphia will detransition and their stories will cause great damage (they already are) to the trans rights movement, it just baffles me that any gender non-conformity is "treated" with transition. It will only end up damaging trans rights.

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/04/2022 09:48

Heartbreaking account. I've said this before but one person choosing to not have cancer treatment for example never had people questioning of the dr actually believes in cancer nor is it a reflection on anyone else's choice to go ahead with treatment. Strangers are not remotely invested in the treatments of others and what it could mean.

But fir some reason with this, it's never abkut whats best fir thr patient it's all about how it looks to thise on the outside. Thise whi won't be dialling 999 for then or visiting them in hospital when the surgeries all go wrong.
One person having therapy does not invalidate the identity of anyone else.

It surely calls to mind the American Opioid crisis, and clearly lessons are not learned. For anyone who hasn't seen the mini series "Dopesick" - it appears to me to describe very similar issues of pharma companies overstepping/overselling and the politicisation of the medical industry. Worth watching if you haven't on netflix or disney. Despite the awful title! Engaging and heartbreaking in equal measure.

I have seen this claim before but never seen any evidence for it at all. Can you link some peer reviewed studies to show this isn't another piece of fake news (alongside 50% of trans identifying young people commit suicide if not given exactly what they are told they want).

Lovelyricepudding · 05/04/2022 15:30

JoodyBlue dopesick was very revealing and definitely some parallels such as the lack of evidence in pushing oxycontin and the way the big medical pain societies were bought on board to push the myth that these opiods weren't addictive. And their claims were based on a 'large trial' published in a high ranked journal (forget which one) which other studies then quoted and which turned out to be a three sentence letter someone had written in. And that letter wasn't about a community setying as claimed.

I have since also watched seveal episodes from 'Drugs Inc' which looks at the drug underworld in different cities. As a side note it also highlights the role of oxycontin in the spiralling number of addict's.
