Amateur women and girls across Britain are 'quitting sport' after facing male-bodied opponents, claim campaigners
•There is already controversy over 'trans' sportswomen competing in elite female competitions
•Fair Play For Women has established that it is also affecting grassroots and amateur sport, with many participants feeling pressured to remain silent
•Dossier compiled by FPFW includes testimony from female hockey player in an amateur London league who walked off the pitch when given task of marking a transgender opponent

It’s such a mess.

Thousands of professional women athletes will have given up lucrative careers, left education early, moved away from friends and family to train, put off motherhood in order to compete, all on the premise that they were good enough compared to other women. To make everything mixed sex (and all complaints immoral) completely changes the goalposts.

Why would you compete at grassroots level if there was no chance of you progressing through the ranks, you couldn’t talk about safety and fairness and if your “teammates” are more likely to dob you in than back you?

This is such an important topic. It’s an unseen impact mostly so I’m pleased they’re trying to document it.

Take rugby, Kelly Morgan for example. All it takes is one woman to refuse to play with Morgan, or share a changing room. They may never make it known. They may just slip away. There maybe a woman on an opposing team who knowing they’re facing Morgan decides to skip that week’s game to save their risk. There may be women who decide to continue to play with or against Morgan despite their personal safety risk of injury being increased, but they have to put up with it.

All it takes is one woman to be impacted negatively and it’s even: one happy male for one unhappy woman. Why does the male get to be happy? But the reality is it’s bound to be more than one unhappy woman, so the happy male gets their feelings prioritised over a number of unhappy women. These women go unnoticed.

To be inclusive of a male in women’s sport automatically means women are excluded.

This is another great article in the Mail. Elite or grassroots, it's the same pattern being repeated (below) as we've seen in the cycling:

^But Fair Play For Women has established that it is also affecting grassroots and amateur sport, with many participants feeling pressured to remain silent.
Last night Fiona McAnena, director of sport campaigns at FPFW, which has lobbied to keep women's sports single- sex, warned: 'If you think this is a very small problem, think again.
'This issue is hitting women's sport right across the UK, and sadly it is pushing some women to completely drop out.^
'Especially for teenage girls, just knowing that there is a trans woman at their club can be enough to put them off going for fear of an embarrassing encounter in the changing room or toilet.'

I think we will hear more of the 'I just want to compete in a sport I love as my true authentic self' type comments as per Emily Bridges this week.

My response to that is:

Either compete as your authentic gender identity IN THE CORRECT CLASS FOR YOUR SEX, I would 100% be behind you and applaud your integrity.

Or. delay your transition until after your competitive years and compete as your birth sex IN THE CORRECT CLASS FOR YOUR SEX.

Women who play sports have to make decisions around starting a family based on their performance, why can't men have a bit of that internal conflict, too? Equality, innit!

Funny how males who identify into womanhood don't identify into the compromises women have to make.

This is too important to be left in the hands of sports governing bodies. The government needs to find a way to wade in before women's sports are completely destroyed.

JellySaurus · 03/04/2022 08:08

The government needs to ensure that sports governing bodies apply the law correctly.

The government needs to spell it out that the appropriate comparator for a male with the PC of gender reassignment is a male without the PC of gender reassignment, and categorically not a female without the PC of gender reassignment.
