Another splash in the Mail on Sunday - online. This is not only another sports case, following hard on the wheel of the Bridges one but it also has a Tavistock study connection.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10679981/Trans-goalkeeper-used-play-mens-football-selected-England-Universities-womens-side.html

•Blair Hamilton, 32 - who is also lead investigator of Tavistock Transgender Athlete Study - will take one of coveted spots in national squad within weeks
•The player - a PhD student at Brighton University - was born male but identifies as female
•She was selected after impressive displays for Hastings United Football Club women's team in East Sussex, known as the 'Us' "
But last night, the controversial appointment was already causing ructions.

"Maya Forstater, of Sex Matters, which campaigns for 'clarity' on women-only services and spaces, said: 'Women will lose out from being on the squad and will also potentially be put under pressure not to speak up about it.' "

Football I’d be worried about safety too for the other players, although it’s not as critical as for the more contact disciplines like us and Australian.

Well.

'Blair'

I’m sure the performance was very impressive.

Seems to be a bit of a conflict of interest here in this scientific investigation. Hmm

Actually the info much further down that page is more interesting - all the issues in local, 'grassroots' sports clubs where women a d girls have been forced out

I'm not sure, keepers can cause a lot of damage, especially when one-on-one with a striker.

The Women Cyclists stood for common sense and positive action was taken

I wonder if this is what it is going to take for action across the board in sport ??

Us shouting from the outside doesn’t have the same impact… but I guess the more we shout for fairness the stronger the sports women will feel about refusing to participate in a rigged sport -
But that’s so hard when it’s everything an elite sports person lives for ….
With trans being such an rare phenomena …. Where are all these transwomen in sports coming from ???!!!!!

.....student at Brighton University

Nope. No chance.
Most of them will be smiling in their lippy as they watch fairness for women get trashed in front of their eyes.
Those poor women.

Does anyone know if there is an influx of born female athletes moving into men's sport?

Hoppinggreen · 03/04/2022 11:19

Football can be pretty full on. Apart from anything else this could be dangerous

CatProcrastinator1 · 03/04/2022 12:01

The FA does not allow fans to speak out about Blair being in a woman's team. Goodness knows what they would do if a player spoke out with concerns. A supporter at a match Blair was playing in said
"this isn't fair" and "that's not a woman" and "it shouldn't be allowed"
The club was fined.

Or throwing their weight around at corners

What exactly does ‘self identify’ mean? Is there a legal definition of this? Because otherwise it’s a bit of a joke.
