There’s currently a poll on Twitter asking the above question.

It was showing 90% as “no” responses - but it’s been shared widely by certain TRA accounts and shenanigans are now ongoing (see screenshot).

It’s now flipped with 57% responses saying “yes”.

I think that although it’s just a shitty Twitter poll, every little thing like this matters. Every time there’s an opportunity to say “live how you want, but women do not have a penis” I think it’s important to keep saying it.

So, with that in mind I’m sharing the link here if anyone would like to vote.

If you invent a concept based on how you feel, it’s not a surprise that it’s based on how you feel.

Like we can all measure our height in feet and inches, but I could invent something called “emotional height”. I could call it Naang. I could say it was based on how tall you felt.

But so what?

Sex isn’t based on how you feel. There’s no evidence for an innate ‘gender’ that is separable from feelings.

I once reached a healthy BMI because a dietitian couldn’t read their own handwriting & was a blithering idiot. It’s somewhere in my official hospital notes & everything. Sadly even creating that record didn’t magically make me gain the weight (nor lose the height, happily!) to achieve said BMI.

Maybe it’s part of why they’re so angry with JK Rowling: the realisation there are no Magic Words, you can’t use transfiguration (or Polyjuice Potion) to transition, & you don’t get to Imperius people into agreeing TWAW even if you have a dark mark tattoo & everything

Reality is so terribly unyielding, even when you try to circumvent it.

As for brigading the poll - do you think they [fully] understand that all it demonstrates is that the individual who instigated the brigading has a substantial following who were available to flood the poll. The result itself is meaningless. You can learn things (eg re: perceived ownership/control of certain online spaces; brigading [with socks] = stereotypically male behaviour but here openly orchestrated by & engaged in by TW, undermining TRA claims about socialisation patterns; ways in which this was [part of a pattern of] misogynist [behaviour] by contributors….) should you choose to analyse the discussion around the deliberate destruction of the poll - the most obvious being there is a fear the real answer would have been “no”.

That is, realistically, the only reason to interfere with it in such a fashion - you think that the answer will be “wrong” unless you “correct” it. Quite how it could be any comfort that “100% of people who think women can have penises think women can have penises” I do not know; but then, I do not understand how TRAs can believe things that are demonstrably false, either. I enjoy excursions into the counter-factual, please don’t misunderstand me, but the point is that allows us to explore the “what ifs?” not the “what is” - a distinction apparently lost on TRAs.
