That's good news. I wasn't sure this would pass.

Successful campaigning by @MNHQ amongst others.

Slothtoes · 30/03/2022 20:54

Thank goodness, I was really worried about this getting through because it’s a conscience vote and there is such a large Tory majority in the Commons. Some MPs don’t seem to grasp that they can perfectly legitimately not want to have an abortion themselves, or even disapprove of those who do, but that they should also not vote to stop women who need an abortion, from having it as early and safely as possible.

RoyKentsChestHair · 30/03/2022 21:10

That’s brilliant. I hadn’t heard about this until I read the thread on here, so I signed the petition and emailed my MP. Hope he voted the right way!

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 30/03/2022 21:10

Wonderful news!

persephone19 · 30/03/2022 21:12

I'm thrilled! (Gp with an interest in reproductive health here. Will make a massive difference to my patientsSmile)

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/03/2022 21:12

Excellent news. Another small step in recognising women's rights to personal decision making about our bodies.

NeedToKnow101 · 30/03/2022 21:13

That's excellent news!! 🙌🏼🙌🏾

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 30/03/2022 21:54

What a relief. My MP was on the fence but I emailed him a heartfelt letter (I do actually know him) and he voted in favour of keeping it.

I've just thanked him.

And like I always say: if you don't want an abortion, you don't have to have one.

Clymene · 30/03/2022 21:58

Hurrah! Thanks to @MNHQ for highlighting this too

AlsoNotAGirl · 30/03/2022 22:27

Glitterball Well done mnhq (until the next time i need a proper rant Blush) .
MuggleMadness · 30/03/2022 22:46

@MNHQ well done for your part in this.

Just going to see how my MP voted. To see if I can stop hating him quite so much or just feel more justified!

DERFDogmaExlusionary · 30/03/2022 22:46

wow

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 30/03/2022 22:56

27 votes in it. (28 made the difference.)

MNHQ and MNers probably made the critical difference here - campaigning, petitioning, writing emails and letters to MPs, and using SM.
