Rishi Sunak can't tell her. He agrees with what the PM said, but can't actually recall the words and say something similar himself.

What is WRONG with our politicians ffs? Are they all spineless?

@Saltyquiche

As an ancient original Labour voter I have been depending on the conservatives for common sense
So why would they keep any promises made here when they haven't anywhere else ?

Trusting a party because they happen to say what you like seems a poor basis for voting for them. Why not vote for the "no tax, free money" party ? Who are just as likely to keep their manifesto pledges as the Tories are.

Oh ffs. What I don’t understand is why someone for each party hasn’t drafted something they can all just learn or refer to? This is going to keep coming up, as it should, because I’m not voting for anyone who’s a biology denier, so why aren’t they briefed and prepared instead of skewering themselves like this every time?

People will look back at this utter shit show in future and wonder what on Earth possessed everyone.

It's quite obvious that someone in the Labour Party did draft something. I first noticed the odd formulation that Annaliese Dodds came out with on Woman's Hour and then a day or so later that Keir Starmer used the same thing.

Crikey, what a weasel.

Labour are saying a woman is an ahf (biology) AND anyone who says they are... Once again, making a special exception for men who "identify as women" and NOT for the converse - because fuck women, right?

If any MP genuinely believes that people can change sex, then surely their definition of "woman" needs to be deft enough to exclude (some) male-identified and non-binary and gender-fluid "adult human females" as well as including (some) "adult human males"? Otherwise it's just naked and blatant Men's Privilege Activism.

That's how the current linguistic round of this debacle started: Rosie Duffield said "only woman have a cervix", implying that male-identified and "AFAB" trans, non-binary, and gender-fluid people with cervixes are de facto included in the category of women. No one has said "all women have cervixes". And yet MPs are desperately twisting themselves in knots explaining how transwomen can have a cervix and "AMABs" can be women. So, a "woman" is anyone who can't be or doesn't want to be a man. What is a man?

Gosports

From the Daily Mail March 23rd :

Mr Johnson spoke at Prime Minister's Questions today after a backbench Tory MP raised the issue of 'gender distress'.

Guildford MP Angela Richardson asked him for a meeting to 'discuss how we can constructively support these young people who are experiencing gender distress?'

Mr Johnson replied: 'I think that this is one of those issues that the whole House is coming to realise is one that requires extreme sensitivity, tact, love and care.

'We must recognise that when people want to make a transition in their lives, that they should be treated with the maximum possible generosity and respect, and we have systems in this country that allow that and have done for a long time, we should be very proud of it.

'I do want to say in addition that I think when it comes to distinguishing between a man and a woman, that the basic facts of biology remain overwhelmingly important.'

Cue hordes of outraged mumsnetters lamenting how they can't possibly vote Tory now at the next election, due to the overriding importance of this one issue.

No?

Funny that.
