Women’s Aid statement on single-sex spaces

I’m cautiously optimistic about this statement, which at least recognises that single-sex spaces can be legal and that some women and children have a need for them. There’s still more emphasis on ensuring trans needs are met, but I think this might be the first time that there’s been some balancing vis-a-vis women only spaces.

'Our position on the inclusion of trans women in our services remains unchanged and is available here: bit.ly/SWATransWomen

Our services have always operated on a model of self-identification and our expert staff provide life-saving support to all women who need it.'

I know for bloody sure not all Women's Aid shelters in Scotland are on board with that. That's not representing their members.

It just plain prioritises male need over female need. In a way that some females may well end up dead from. Who does that help when actual inclusion would mean facing the issues and having spaces that all could access?

Exclusionary inclusion. Madness. But it's the determined willingness to put females in danger to serve politics that makes it not just mad but morally indefensible.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!

Males are subjected to violence too and can be equally in need of support.

WA have made it clear that male provision is by exception and dependant on availability. That they will use the sex provision to lawfully exclude some of those who would benefit from the services.

SWA on the other hand is attempting to leverage males they exclude. Apply the relevant text to a gender conforming male homosexual or a gender nonconforming male homosexual:
homophobia an oppressive system that maintains the superiority and mastery of ‘real men’ over those who do not confirm to expected gender norms.
These are not biological, but learned.
men are made, not born.
However it also includes violence against gay people in the form of homophobic hate abuse in any setting. It is any kind of violence used to maintain gender orders and G people experience this on the basis of their sexual orientation

Because its rather _phobic to suggest that everyone transgender and male are same sex attracted.

How to exclude the old without using the word old
transgender women and young people

How to include transgendered females without using the words women or man
transgender women and young people

So where would a born female, "made man" and old fit?
