I have so many issues with it I don't know where to start!

Don't waste your time!

Runningupthecurtains · 19/03/2022 10:39

Well there is a lot of conflating of issue there. Yes women's football was effectively banned but it was women's football not mixed football. Skeet shooting is one of the few events in which an argument can be made for mixed competition, it doesn't follow that because one sport doesn't involve physical contact, strength or speed that all it's OK to mix all sports.

NecessaryScene · 19/03/2022 10:45

She's just thick.

Rainbowshit · 19/03/2022 11:26

It's an example of cherry picking.

Linguini · 19/03/2022 11:26

I've had a look and can only conclude this person is either a bot planted to disrupt western society, or is a completely ignorant person.

Hercisback · 19/03/2022 11:31

A trans acquaintance has shared it. Not sure I can be arsed for the discussion. They are convinced they are right. Apparently if someone accidentally mis genders them then that person is a 'trenemy'.

I agree it's just cherry picking.

Yes, men have banned women from sports to protect men's competitions.

This wasn't because women were going to beat men at speed or strength sports.

Yes, women sometimes beat men in specific sports.

For most sports we need women's categories so women can compete fairly and safely.

Men cannot identify into being women so they should not compete in women's sports.

Datun · 19/03/2022 11:42

And the narrative (B) about women being inherently physically inferior to men? Concocted as a reason to segregate us without threatening masculinity.

Patent, mince thick nonsense.

Justme56 · 19/03/2022 12:00

So her premise is that there are only womens sports because men feel threatened by women winning? If women tried that bit harder we could all compete against each other and women would win. Yes there are a few sports where ones sex has little relevance and occasions where a woman wins against a man but these are few and far between. To be honest if in the recent Olympics ice skating the non binary (male presenting) person had been picked up and flung around by their female partner it would have made some great viewing.

NecessaryScene · 19/03/2022 12:12

I realised where I've seen this thread before.

It's

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 19/03/2022 12:18

It’s complete bobbins! Lots of ppl are pointing that out in the replies

No use arguing with ppl like that. To paraphrase from yesterdays Maya thread it would be like arguing with a bag of potato peelings

ShagMeRiggins · 19/03/2022 12:23

There have been some reverse lifts in Ice Dancing. Sinead & John Kerr of the UK did something circa 2010 that got huge applause, and I’m fairly sure when Torvill & Dean returned to Olympic competition with their Let’s Face the Music & Dance routine there was a bit where he flipped her over his back and she flipped him over hers.

Never seen any pairs throws like that, though.

Oh, and on the tweet about the woman who won second place in World Figure Skating in 1903? Four people in the competition, they skated at a snail’s pace carving dainty figure 8s into the ice, then proclaimed the champion. Strength and sex differences not really relevant.

NecessaryScene · 19/03/2022 12:29

Did I miss the bit where she explained why we need the separate women's sport so she can use it as a "radically inclusive space"?

Absolutely. I don't imagine we'll see reverse lifts in pairs either, all things considered.

Though The Torvill/Dean move was more that he did a kind of leapfrog move around her, using his own momentum. She'll have needed superb core strength, for sure, but it wasn't a lift in the same way as when she did a somersault over his head.

donquixotedelamancha · 19/03/2022 13:22

If her batshit arguments are true then surely the logical conclusion is that transwomen should compete in mens sport because testosterone makes no difference to help prove that the huge performance differences in sprint times, weights lifted, distances thrown and power output are all just because women have been conned by the patriarchy.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/03/2022 16:46

altforvarmt happy to see another feminist figure skating fan. Agree re T&D’s move. Still, it’s progress of sorts.

OP as for the rest of this 20 tweets statement, I would ignore. She’s not presenting anything substantial with the argument that ‘women’s sports exist in a separate category because, historically, men were afraid women would overtake them.’

As. If.

Such a shoddy argument. Not even an argument, just Twitter waffle.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/03/2022 12:22

It's utterly batshit agenda-driven nonsense. That's all the unpicking or unpacking you need.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 20/03/2022 12:49

You know they’re getting desperate when they have to resort to this kind of crap.

I’ve noticed it more and more, especially from younger women: there aren’t really any differences between the sexes! Saying there are means you think women are inferior! How dare you imply women are vulnerable relative to men, you misogynist!

And that kind of thing. Fuelled by the whole Disney/Marvel “hey look women can be just as kick ass as men!” bullshit.

Yes, in a fantasy world, where’s it’s all playacting and CGI.

There’s a bloke arguing this nonsense on another thread right now.

I’d Iike to think this is a sign of reaching the end of the natural life span of this hideous ideology. If you can’t back it up with any real arguments, and have to resort to such blatant rearranging of the world we actually all know exists, then hopefully it’s just a matter of time before the whole thing implodes.

I know there have never been any real arguments, but I think I’ve seen a shift from the “sex is a spectrum, clownfish, hormone washes in the womb” pretend science that was supposed to baffle the “non experts” and tell us it was all “way more complex” than we ever realised, to outright denial of the easily observable facts and reality that everybody actually is aware of - everybody who hasn’t got their head stuck in a bucket of GII bobbins, that is.

Now it’s supposed to be actually anti feminist to acknowledge that there are significant and immutable physiological differences between the sexes, like a weird throwback to the 70’s where if women couldn’t beat men at tennis, it was “proof” that we were inferior and didn’t deserve to be seen as equally human.

It’s all an MRA charter, every bit of it.
