www.the-sun.com/news/4873526/cops-hunt-woman-fishnets-sexual-assault-primark-hants/

"COPS are hunting a "young woman" dressed in fishnet tights accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in a Primark store."

I feel like the journalist who wrote it is giving a wink by putting in the inverted commas but if it is not a young woman that is being sought then its nonsense that the police are not giving accurate information.

If it is a young woman being sought then it seems like a bizzare stylistic choice to put young woman in inverted commas

How can the police possibly guess how this person chooses to describe their gender. I’m pretty sure 99% of the people who saw them would be able to identify their sex. Until the police can say ‘we are looking for a male/female’ then they are stuffed.

Of course they can't, and shouldn't, but they do. Time and again we see articles with male offenders who are being searched for described as women.

[quote ResisterRex]The Mail had this with pictures, about which I offer no comment:

The lady they are looking for appears to have very large hands
