Some fantastic speeches here from a festival last weekend.

Belstaffie on prostitution
Dr Em on porn
Elaine Miller on menopause, incontinence, hormones
Marion Calder (for Women Scotland) on GRA reform
... and more.

Highly recommend!

Thanks for this, and well done for filming it.

You had some interesting speakers on, I shall enjoy catching up.

Sadly, I wasn't there! But there's so much good stuff there, I thought the wims of Mumsnet would enjoy.

It's good to film these events, for a start there are many people who won't know there's a dynamic group in Alloa. More power to them!

I used to live near there. Wish I still did! Thanks for the link.

I came across the video of Elaine Miller by another route. She is fantastic. Very informative about female health and issues of incontinence due to menopause (highly pertinent to my stage of life).

However, it was the bit about possible effects of transmen taking testosterone that stood out for me. I guess I hadn't linked all these young women taking testosterone to my own menopause and considered they could be facing similar health issues. There's so little research been done and it astounds me that no-one seems to be thinking through the consequences of young women setting off down the transition path. Well, there are people thinking but they don't seem to be listened to.

There's loads in there that's really worth a listen, giesa. As well as being hilarious she's got a really compassionate, informed take on hormones and healthcare.

  • and yes, the dearth of evidence and the lack of will to do any research on the effects of testosterone on young females is utterly astonishing.

It really is all about the trans women, isn't it?

I wonder why no one pays much attention to the trans men?
