What a way to celebrate IWD with the ‘worst women in history’! They’ve also introduced us to ‘Jackie the Ripper’. I can’t believe anyone thought this was a good idea. I’m quite down about IWD with all the hijacking, the Vagina museum antics and now this, the deadly divas.

Are women supposed to feel complimented to be thought of as equally murderous as men? How are they "dispelling the myths of the fairer sex" by making up a story that didn't happen (the Mary Pearcey theory sounds like horseshit)?

And if they think Mary Pearcey needs equal representation (ffs), why don't they create an exhibit about her - what she was convicted of doing was notorious enough without making stuff up about her. Or are her murders not sensational enough for TLD?

I think this is vile and frankly sick.

I've always found all the interest and what I call the 'notoriety industry' around Jack the (so called) Ripper disturbing. Whoever committed those murders, hated women in the most intense way possible.
The murderer viciously slashed their victims throats, then removed their reproductive organs. Yet people are mawkishly fascinated by him/them to this day. I don't care how long ago it was, those crimes against women are vile misogyny at its gruesome worse. I see no reason to have paid exhibits featuring this or any other serial killer. No one has one about Fred West or the Moors murderers. Interesting moral discrepancy there.

So now some bright sparks thought 'I know, lets celebrate International Womens Day by highlighting some totally implausible and non credible story about how JTR could have been a woman, because it's important to highlight on a day that is meant to both celebrate women and draw attention to issues they face, that hey, women can be monsters too!!'

And we're all supposed to go yay, look how far we've come??

I can understand wanting to tell a story but there's something particularly revolting in how they've done it.

The sad failure in this situation is that they changed over to using a female woman as “Jackie”.

Had “Jackie” been shown to be a male woman, they could have celebrated IWD and highlighted lgbT rights at the same time, like so many other outlets.
