Why would anyone not become a legal man?

Gender recognition reform bill to be tabled at Holyrood www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-60589578

I can't wait for this. I'm definitely going to change my legal gender.

It would be much easier to achieve equality this way, just think of all that administrative male privilege I'll be able to access. Im pretty sure I'll get a pay rise almost straight away, as soon as HR run the numbers and see that I'm a financial anomaly compared to my male peers.

I could report a crime and be taken seriously. It's all very exciting.

Im not worried about health care, obviously I still have my cervix, so that's not a concern.

One thing though, DH is refusing to change to be a legal woman - I can't imagine why.

Im not homophobic, Im happy to become a lesbian. But it means DS technically won't have a mother. It might be a bit of a difficult one for him.

I guess Mermaids have a handy pamphlet that will sort all this out.

I really can't understand what everyone is complaining about...

Does anyone know the definition of transsexual here? Would it include self-ID?

Yes I assume it would be the definition in the EA2010.

X post!

Why only the armed forces, why not other services such as the police so that women can be searched by female officers?

ScrollingLeaves · 03/03/2022 12:13

So, “proposing to undergo” a change of sex in an if itself gives the status of “Gender Reassignment”?

LangClegsInSpace · 03/03/2022 12:16

There's an exception for that as well. The police could lawfully only employ actual female officers to search women.

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/15/schedule/9/part/1/crossheading/general

The trouble is the law says they can, not that they must.

Yes, all you have to do is decide in your own head that you want to transition and you're covered.
OldCrone · 03/03/2022 12:21

Thanks for all the links to the armed forces exceptions LangClegsInSpace.

Yes.

The intent is to prevent people from getting the sack or whatever for 'proposing to undergo ...' - fair enough.

But the breadth of the definition should make it clear that having the PC of gender reassignment must not be conflated with being able to identify into the opposite sex class.

Be assured that your child will still have a mother. Freddy has seen to that Wink.

Really there is nothing to lose. 🤷‍♀️

Don't forget to add "Just for Men" and some lynx deodorant to your shopping basket this week.

JellySaurus · 03/03/2022 12:30

@334bu

Sorry when it comes to inheriting a title they still want to know if you ever had a penis. No penis no title.
But if you identify as having a penis then you have always had a penis. Anyway, a citrus is just a small penis, so don't be size-ist.
JellySaurus · 03/03/2022 12:31

Citrus? Clitoris!

Remember as per the new law you have to prove you’ve lived “as a man”’for at least three months. Make sure you keep a diary to show them all the manly things you’ve been doing. I’m sure they have an objective criteria to test whether you have behaved manly enough for three months in a row.
No need - just take photos to show you have been wearing trousers and you'll be good to go.
ClawedButler · 03/03/2022 12:38

hello yes I would like to buy some Male Privilege (TM) please.

I like cars, so that's a clear and unequivocal indication that I am really a man, isn't it? I wore trousers as a child as well. I mean, all the signs were there.

This thread would not be complete without a reminder of the wonderful work of the #ManFriday chaps a couple of years back:

Any attire will do. If Harry Styles can wear one, any man can!

Ooh, watch out! I mentioned Harry Styles wearing the clothes he wanted to wear on another thread and was told by an anti woman poster that only the 'right sort of man' seems to be accepted as wearing 'feminine' clothes. I have an inkling what veiled implication that poster was trying to make but it seems that Harry is not allowed to be mentioned!

"I'm not sure if I'm a man, or just WFH" Grin

No worries, I'll clear this up for you: deffo a man. Everyone knows that every real woman who WFH dresses like a sexy secretary to achieve the overarching aim of her work: the successful seduction of her boss. Also, no real woman posts their daily workwear pics to Flickr without heels, a nineties push-up bra and a full face on, so I don't know how you'd even begin to get any validation over there. There's nothing left for you but to embrace your maleness: chuck your keys in the garden, stretch your legs and demand a shiny wank pod.

That’s easy I’ve lived as a man for decades, wear jeans, tee-shirts, hoodies, am person who puts the bins out, ‘male’ interests, ‘male’ tech job.

I used to think the only female bit I did was giving birth but Flouncing Freddie seems to think thats manly too

Slothtoes · 03/03/2022 14:19

I’ll do it, I’d love to be able to walk around outside on my own, day or night, without worrying about what other men might do.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 03/03/2022 14:25

Absolutely Skinterior. Why would anyone want to be a woman when just changing your legal ‘sex marker’ could get you a pay rise and eliminate all discrimination against you? Effectively it does of course because your salary is now no longer compared to that of men for the purposes of the gender pay gap, because you are one! Bingo.

Beamur · 03/03/2022 14:35

It would seem that WFH has also turned me into a man. Although I have long hair..but I do put the bins out and walk the dog at night in the dark. Does that count?

I have a chainsaw and sensible shoes.

That should do it.

BruceAndNosh · 03/03/2022 14:54

I've got enough facial hair to be considered manly.
I also wear make up as I refuse to conform to male stereotypes

Same. I might stop bleaching my 'tache.

I'm looking forward to dropping all the wife work. No more having to remember birthdays, write cards at Christmas, know about appointments etc etc.
