As the press rallies behind Putin by blaming the West's obsession with being woke ( obviously not the press obsessively being anti-woke ) it appears that so many easily influenced people have been victim to his manipulation and money

Putin seems to be an old fashioned patriarchal religious type - against the rights of women, homosexuals etc - who afaik gets a lot of support from the Russian Orthodox Church. I'm not sure he's very distinguishable on these matters from the 'Christian right wing', other than being a statist authoritarian rather than more individualistic.

He, and they, are pretty much antithetical to all feminists, liberal, radical or any other label.

His aim was to create division so that he could walk into Ukraine without a coordinated response. He was right as well, see the Daily Mail blaming the 'woke' for that. Fortunately the Ukranians are made of better stuff than the chattering socially conservative right wing chattering classes who online will 'boycott' a butter brand but in reality....
