How do HCPs in the US square "chop your cock off", or "remove both healthy breasts" with First Do No Harm?

Oh my word, the humanity 🙄

Full on anti-trans hyperbolic blah blah….. but this in particular:

The first anti-trans bill to pass in Texas, in October 2021, banned public school students from playing on a sports team that they felt matched their gender identity. Instead, they are only permitted to play on sports teams with other members of the same biological sex, as listed on their birth certificates.

Typically biased reporting from the guardian there.

I saw this on twitter last night, here is quite a hysterical thread on it but it provides all the information including the letter itself :

twitter.com/ErinInTheMorn/status/1496511215719399431?t=LwSBxvLueDkXdwcE3zHvTA&s=19

I assume that it is only surgery and hormones they want banned for children, not social transitioning?

The paperwork cites Keira Bell (the tweet's author is FURIOUS because Keira LOST her case!!!) and of course this follows success in Sweden and Finland too.

Looks like we are making some progress towards banning this practise for kids.

Phew.

Wow rabbitwoman, that thread Shock

This….

“When we say that there is a trans genocide going on, this is what we are talking about. It's been slowly bubbling and percolating to the surface, and in the enclaves of anti-trans governments, they are deciding now is their time to act.”

No one is talking about mass killing of trans people (never mind that ‘trans’ is not a race), we are only wanting to prevent life long harm to children. Which is, as you say, a good thing.

rabbitwoman · 24/02/2022 06:42

I just wonder how people think children managed 10/ 15/ 20/ 30 + years ago before widespread trans healthcare was a thing?

MondayYogurt · 24/02/2022 07:22

"genocide"

I wish everyone on that thread could see detransitioner stories.

TheHoptimist · 24/02/2022 07:50

Texas- sign on womens loos

If you've got a dick you aint a chick.

ThatsWhenTheCannibalismStarted · 24/02/2022 07:52

I don't think a lack of knowledge of detrans peoples is the problem. They simply nationalise them away as "never really trans" or "such a small minority it's not a big problem" and "we shouldn't let fears that a handful will detransition stop real trans people getting the gender affirming healthcare they need" Hmm

Could that twitter account be anymore hyperbolic and dramatic?

Maybe they are still on strong pain meds after getting their penis removed. But the absolute obliviousness that puberty blocking does count as a medical procedure towards transitioning is dangerous. Absolutely dangerous.

But then as a male transitioner, I guess the serious short term and long term health ramifications of female transitioners may not be important to them. We have seen that too regularly all over the internet.

Whitefire · 24/02/2022 08:12

Twitter accounts like that are just stoking up fear, it talks almost of smuggling children out of Texas under the cover of darkness, before the evil authorities track them down. There is never any rational response, just claims of anti-trans, genocide and wishing death on all those who are trans. Almost like they are the enemy from within.

OperationDessertStorm · 24/02/2022 08:40

Texas still has an abortion ban. How can the author generate that much upset about males not having the option to chose to compete in either sport, metres away from females who don’t have the option to decide what’s happening in their own body.

MondayYogurt · 24/02/2022 08:44

I think if the real numbers of detrans cases (not desisting, actually detransitioning after surgery) were publicised more instead of being hushed up they wouldn't be able to claim it's a tiny minority.

Most of the people on that thread will never have encountered the voice of a minor who has received PB and/or cross-sex hormones and surgery and then regretted it.

There's a huge amount of suppression going on.

It's just horrible admitting you made a mistake and takes bravery to talk about it.

“The opinion released by Paxton cites highly partisan, outdated, and inaccurate information that ignores the consensus of every major medical association and the evidence-based and peer-reviewed standards of care.”

This shows how a lot of “medical expert opinion” from the USA should be seen as being suspect. Always think for yourself find out as much as you can.
