I didn't feel it was very balanced. 'protest on both sides'

One interview with a trans couple, another with a woman from Ingender who believe that transwomen can access rape services with no problem and one intervention from Maria Calder from For Women Scotland who pointed out that self ID means that women would be breaking the law by even questioning a male person in a single sex space.

The interpretation of the poll was overly positive in my opinion, and not enough weight given to the fact that most people haven't followed the debate closely.

Thoughts?

I read this earlier, I was quite shocked at the amount of people for it and also though there wasn't enough highlighting the amount of people who don't follow the debate.

IME people dont really understand what they are supporting, think 'trans' means someone who has had full SRS, and think there will be exceptions. When you try to explain it to them they think you are overreacting or making it up.
And thats possible because the politicians having these 'debates' arent being upfront about exactly what they are proposing. They should start by defining the terms in plain English. If they can't do that, they can't write laws that include those terms.

This item was about a poll (of 2000 people) commissioned by the BBC. A whiff of BBC activism. Strangely, not worthy of mention on Woman's Hour which these days largely avoids the subject even when it's in the news, as here.

I think the deliberate conflation with DSDs has some people believing it is an actual, physical condition
A friend was out with her daughter who bought they/them badges and was spouting TWAW. She was then horrified to find a large male person wearing a dress in the Ladies. She left and refused to use the toilet. She still doesn't see that it is part of the same ideology and I think a lot of the country are in the same position
Generally our thinking has been reduced to 3 word slogans

Or 4 in the case of TWAW

This about the bbc poll. Lot of people don’t really know what would happen in Scotland if we get self Id

There was a very short piece on it on the News at One. I put in a complaint about bias asking for a sister piece interviewing women who felt they couldn't access single sex services due to the presence of men, straight away. Then I saw this and another thread on the proposals. Now I see they were trailing a whole bigger thing which is still biased! So glad I comlained.
