"We want to update on a recent investigation into a breach of our Code of Conduct by a volunteer that received public attention. Girlguiding operates a thorough complaints procedure and takes all concerns raised very seriously.
In this case, the volunteer cooperated fully and the investigation has concluded. The volunteer made the decision to leave and is no longer a volunteer at Girlguiding."

She likes paintballing and joking about being a mistress, you bigots! God, the inability to countenance a member of the sacred caste as anything less than perfect...
@Helleofabore I was a leader too. I quit because I couldn't reconcile the guidance with my understanding of safeguarding.

Are you aware of any natal female leaders having gone through this level of public vilification? After 30 years as a leader I know of several cases where people were encouraged to find other volunteering opportunities for behavioural and image reasons, but they were discovered at the local level, as you say, you check out your leader. In this case she was thoroughly searched by randoms on the internet because she is trans.
It didnt take much of any searching. It wasnt hidden away 100 pages down a Google search where most people will have given up.
I think a female gun toting bdsm mistress is unlikely to want to join GG anyway but if they had and I knew about it, my email would have been the same.

I'm not entirely sure why it was in a local? Newspaper but I am glad that stuff like this is getting more coverage, no longer swept under the rug.

The problem is not that this person "identifies" as trans - they can identity however they like - the problem is that this was a male person in a position of responsibility in a single-sex organisation for women and girls. Not only were they not female and still allowed to occupy a position of responsibility, the organisation was extremely slow to act on their inappropriate social media behaviour. And not just slow, but seeming to defend the male person who inexplicably they had admitted into a single-sex organisation for females. All of this while being very defensive when women raised concerns about safeguarding.

Why do you think this person was thoroughly search on the internet? Because Girl Guiding dragged its feet. If this had been a woman, the story would not have dragged out so long that members of the public felt moved to highlight this individuals behaviour by reposting the images they publicly made available. Any woman who was found to have behaved like this would have been out on their ear quick smart.

TonyThreePies · 16/02/2022 16:16

Girlguiding reporting those raising the issue to the fucking police.

Would they have reported them to the police if it had been a female mistress?

RoyalCorgi · 16/02/2022 16:17

Quite. The sooner we stop pretending humans can change sex the sooner we'll be able to create and implement clear safeguarding guidelines. Sulley is a man, and therefore shouldn't have been holding a position of responsibility in Girlguiding UK. The fact that Sulley was also a gun-toting sexual fetishist is simply the icing on the cake.

Fluffymule · 16/02/2022 16:28

I find that women are actually treated far more harshly in the media than men, particularly in the tabloids that ran the stories about Sulley.

So I can absolutely imagine that if a woman GG leader, or woman in any similar role such as teacher, children's nurse etc, came to their attention exhibiting behaviour that sparked the same safeguarding concerns as Sulley the tabloids would absolutely be digging for more pictures; scouring social media for salacious or incriminating photos and posts, and splashing as much clickbait about it as they can on their site.

A current example is the one where a young 22 year old woman teacher has just been struck off after sleeping with an 18 year old pupil. It's right the news should be reported, but the story has been typically illustrated with pictures unearthed from her social media of her in bikinis and in clubbing/party wear.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 16/02/2022 16:35

@Fluffymule I really don't want equality to mean that I get to see photos like that of male people...

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/02/2022 16:37

I'm confused Confused. That doesn't update on the outcome of the investigation at all - what conclusion did GG come to?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/02/2022 16:38

What I mean is, did the investigation find any issues? If Sulley hadn't chosen to leave would they still be in post? Did GG learn anything from this experience?

bishophaha · 16/02/2022 16:41

Absolutely pissing myself here at the notion women who dress up in bondage on social media wouldn't be the subject of complaints.

My grandad practically used to write to Ofcom if a newsreader wore a snazzy cardigan, ffs.

zorbazorbs · 16/02/2022 16:44

I'm confused with this. Surely if a biologically female person also did this GGUK would also investigate. Not sure what being trans has to do with it?

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/02/2022 16:47

No actual women get fired for doing anything other than openly embracing an organisation becoming mixed sex without informing the service users.

CovIneedanamechange · 16/02/2022 16:47

This is why neither I nor my girls can't join Guides...

Have you got links?

As far as I can tell, they found that women were nasty and they were fine.

You see, as their email responses said, they understand that many disagree with them but they are not going to change their stance. Transwomen are women

can join argh where's that edit button

Apollo441 · 16/02/2022 16:52

Genuine question. Could I, as a man, apply for Sulley's position? If not, why?

zorbazorbs · 16/02/2022 16:57

@Whatwouldscullydo so as I said an investigation was held then they were expelled. Same thing as what was happening with this one

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/02/2022 16:57

Leaving is not the same as being expelled though.

Yes, as long as you said you felt like a woman.

Because GG did not finish their investigation so how do you know it wouldn't have been expulsion
Gumbomambo · 16/02/2022 17:05

How do you know it would?
