A charity called "Educate and celebrate" has been contracted by the NEU to run training. The article links mostly talks about dropping words like "boy" and "mother" but other bits of interest include replacing "male" and "female" tick boxes on application forms with free text boxes for gender.
The trainer also recommends that uniforms should be "gender-free". Not merely that rules on who can wear trousers and skirts be relaxed (no one here would object to kids having the choice). No, they propose removing the different fits, even though the post-pubescent bodies of boys and girls will differ significantly and clothes (unless baggy) need different cuts to remain comfortable.
E&C have previously encouraged teachers to keep pupils' secrets from parents which is obviously against good safeguarding practice.
Guess which protected characteristic they forgot to include.
Good to see that some teachers have spoken out though.
