Claudia has been a ceramicist for decades. Her Women@theWell work amplifies the voices of prostituted women. She was due to exhibit and speak at Ceramic Art London in April.

She has been cancelled by the organisers Craft Potters Association due to threats of 'disruption'.

Fucking outrageous.

Claudia's work isn't about the sex/gender debate, it amplifies the voices of prostituted women and girls and is connected to the 'History of Prostitution Expunged' (HOPE) campaign.

The HOPE campaign is to have the criminal records of prostituted women expunged. I don't understand why anyone would oppose or disrupt this.

Who is doing this and why??? Utterly baffling and anger-inducing.

Claudia hasn't as yet been given any details about what the threats of disruption included or who issued them.

Her work is all about the voices and experiences of prostituted women and girls. As pp says, the HOPE campaign is challenging the law current law by which convictions of being a 'common prostitute' (given to them when they were prostituted teenagers) are retained for 100 years.

Probably some of those people who monitor the thoughts and words of women don't like something she has posted on social media.
It looks like punishment for wrongthink to me.

A few TRAs/MRAs probably heard that she does art about womens suffering and was due an exhibition so they kicked off, it doesnt seem to take many to frighten organizations into cancelling women.

look at that woman who campaigns against FGM even she got targeted.

Oh but the Tate merrily includes a pot by Perry in a film for kids with an image of a bound naked woman in it.

That amnesty letter they should all be sent back to repeat primary school.

There really has to be some way organisations can stand up to bullies. The bullies have learned that they just need to shout loud, so now that's all they need to do and everything about women or for women will be cancelled. Shame on everyone who had anything to do with this

Do you think it's the Swerf stuff? I mean even if you believe that it doesn't make sense, surely one thing both side could agree on is that these women should not be criminals. It makes no sense, big surprise!

Does the campaigned including men who may have convictions, ie. rent boys not customers? O'r 0erhaps they think it should Include the kerbcrawlers and pimps. I imagine these could trigger a certain demographic.

The silencing and shutting down of women in civic space is extraordinary.

I've emailed Ceramic Art London to ask what sort of 'disruption' was anticipated. I'll reserve judgement until I get a bit more clarity on it.

Is she being cancelled because her art doesn't include men? Is this where we are now?

I bet it is the SWERF stuff. The two are really linked for a lot of TRAs. I still dont really understand why...
