FA to tackle “gender based violence”

It’s sex based you morons!!! I mean don’t get me wrong, this is good but by persistently using gender when they mean sex, it perpetuates the idea that sex and gender are the same thing. Women are not being beaten up & killed because they are performing female stereotypes, they are beaten up & killed because they are women. The violence was a sex based not gender based

In this context, it's a pity that gender is no longer simply a synonym for biological sex. The problem with using the term 'sex based violence' instead is that it's liable to be misinterpreted as 'sexual violence'. While much violence against women/by men is sexual, not all of it is.
