GMC suspends doctor who harassed/abused a woman for TWO YEARS

Outrageous. Doctor guilty of harassing abusing and assaulting a woman - and also harassing a second woman, is suspended for nine months.

I do not want this doctor treating women or girls.

How on earth was he not struck off?

'Dr Sivakumar became angry if the female doctor did not do as he demanded and answer his repeated attempts to contact her, the tribunal was told.

On one occasion, Dr Sivakumar climbed though Dr A’s bedroom window in the night, held her hands together while she lay in bed and then refused to let her to get out of bed.

He was also physically abusive towards her both in public and in private on other occasions, the hearing was told.'

what does he need to do to get struck off? kill someone? The General Medical Council are a joke

What is the pattern of this? Escalation?

So what other steps are being taken to stop the pattern occurring here?

I'm curious as to how suspending him, will change such contempt and hostility to women.

How are woman, who find out he is their doctor in the future supposed to feel? Would they be able to trust him? Would they have the right to another doctor without question?

If this doesn't smack of institutional sexism, im not quite sure what does!

This man should be in prison.

The GMC have shown so many times they are not fit for purpose, an external regulator needs to be appointed.

I too am waiting for a decision by the GMC into whether it will reconsider its previous decision to take no action against a consultant who sexually assaulted me.
The decision is due very soon (as they’ve been saying since October).
They didn’t even give him a warning.
Didn’t think they’d succeed at Tribunal so didn’t even try.
Maybe it’s just because it’s not a sexy enough headline - after all, it’s just women (who are left in fear for years, have the humiliation of endless interviewing etc if they do report, called liars etc).
