Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

They're still denying sex!

I have a contact, a senior clinician, who has been sucked deep down the gender rabbit hole. I thought I'd managed to hit the 'sex is a spectrum and none of us is wholly female or male' on the head a couple of years ago.

Now she's back to me with this:

It seems to be a 'way cooler and more legitimate' (their words) justification for redefining sex. I only managed to get halfway through it before losing the will to live. So glad to see Emma Hilton on his case.

Why do they keep this defunct argument up? It it part of a strategy of wearing us down by demanding that we keep explaining rationally and calmly why they're wrong, over and over and over again? If so, it's working with me.

@Linguini

No it's what desperate to fit in 20 year olds are saying, not bioscience.
It's worrying, and I don't know how to deal with it. My intelligent daughter believes this nonsense?

I saw something on Twitter earlier, which was the equivalent of

'Ask your mum about the time you came out of her social contruct'

@Beowulfa

A day on the coalface with a livestock vet in lambing season might help those so terribly confused about the complicated spectrum of sex.
I wish this were true, but speaking as a veterinary nurse, I can tell you that the fungus that is gender ideology has even infected the veterinary world. I work with several vets and nurses who have also swallowed the Kool Aid and believe that TWAW, and all the associated shite that goes along with it. I wish I was joking. And we deal with the reality of sex every day. We knows which ones need castrating and which ones have the puppies and kittens.

It's an epidemic and no industry is immune.

I have no PHDs but I know there are two basic sexes, male and female, with the sub heading, intersex. Gender means fuck all.

Highly intelligent people are often very susceptible to cults and groupthink ..Cults such as Children of God and the Shree Baghwan lot recruited heavily at universities...bullshit baffles brains as ever ..

What in the ever loving fuck?

Too many philosophers doing pop science badly, and too many scientists doing philosophy (or at least a skim read of Judith Butler), badly. Are they all bored? Procrastinating? Trying to persuade their student-customers that their courses are cool and relevant?

I thought interdisciplinarity was supposed to mean joint problem solving, not quoting each other’s blog posts on Twitter.

Just because humans gave the so-called correlating features of biology a label, doesn't mean humans invented those features. Sex features existed and would exist even if humans didn't give them a word, even if humans didn't exist. Gender , however, wouldn't exist without humans to bang on about it.

Just as a matter of interest, why would anyone do 2 PhDs? Isn't that like getting two driving licences?

Not if they were in quite different research areas, though it's unusual.

You might do one in a specialist area that evolves further such that it needs specialist knowledge in another one as well. It's not that uncommon in STEM.

Thanks @ErrolTheDragon and @EmbarrassingHadrosaurus. I can understand doing two professional doctorates, but I always thought. PhD was to teach you how to research. I am not in tune with the modern world.
