On this day in 2022 I gave up reasoning with activists

I just saw this response on twitter.

In the piece she thinks only pregnant women experience domestic violence. As ever, the transphobia is sickening. You will lose this fight against human rights.

She was responding to the Times article about Nicola Murray, the founder of a specialist charity for women who have experienced pregnancy loss as a result of domestic violence, being visited by police officers.

I'm not linking directly to the tweet because she's received plenty of responses already, and I am certain every single one is pointless. If you can read about a charity being founded to support women who've miscarried because of violence and conclude the founder "thinks only pregnant women experience domestic violence", what is there to say to you?

I've always believed in the power of rational conversation. Clearly I was deluded.

The founder of a charity supporting women who have suffered domestic violence has been interviewed by police after she was reported for hate crime after stressing its female-only services.

Nicola Murray was left “shocked and panicky” when detectives arrived at her door after an online announcement by Brodie’s Trust that it would no longer refer women to Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC).

Talking to the officers, Murray, from Stanley, near Perth, was taken aback when she said they told her: “We need to speak to you to ascertain what your thinking was behind making your statement.”

Murray, 43, founded Brodie’s Trust in 2018 to support women from all over the world “who’ve suffered pregnancy loss through domestic violence or forced termination” by directing victims tolocal services for help.

She and a colleague determined its revised policy towards ERCC following statements by Mridul Wadhwa, the trans womanappointed its CEO last year, who claimed “bigoted” victims of sexual violence should expect to be “challenged on their prejudices”.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
This is an ideological / faith based viewpoint plus deliberate trolling / goading by someone who should know better but prefers to follow the herd they associate with.

@Voice0fReason

There is no point in trying to reason when they are doing it deliberately.
This. They know most people on their side won't bother to read something from The Enemy.

I agree it’s deliberate trolling. They no doubt understood the sentence about men, but purposely twisted it in order to make their tweet. It’s a form of propaganda. If you can twist or misrepresent a reasonable statement, then you’re well on the way to making sure anything that person says in future is judged through the same false lens.

JKR is a good example of this. So, the hard of thinking have been told her tweets are transphobic, and they’re now parroting that all over the internet - yet can’t provide a single example in her own words of what she said that was transphobic. The TRA strategy worked, and so they’ll deploy it again and again.

This is why people are re-writing history - the lies become ‘fact’. “Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia”.

There’s a huge audience of people who aren’t very bright, sitting ready to lap up these lies and spread them far and wide. Useful idiots. That’s why the TRAs say obviously false things. It doesn’t matter that we know they’re false, the vacuous virtue-signallers will take them as fact and distribute them far and wide.

Yes. A particular low point was when JKR said she had ignored child porn posted on her Twitter thread, to show that she didn't rise to the bait despite extreme provocation. And they used that against her to pretend that she didn't care about child porn.

Every argument they make is in bad faith. You know why? Because they know that the position they hold is indefensible. There are no good faith arguments to support a position that is entirely irrational.

So what they are saying is, that a woman who has lost their baby due to domestic violence, can’t even have this to themselves cos know “men” and non binary people get pregnant too.

What a load of fucking bullshit
