midwifery matters & language

Afternoon all.

I’m a regular poster on these boards & I’d like to ask you to consider joining the Association of Radical Midwives. Membership comes with 4 issues of Midwifery Matters each year.

Our membership is diverse. We are women, midwives, mothers, feminists… from all walks of life. It is truly a diverse group of women.

Do have a look & maybe think about joining us. You don’t have to be a midwife, but it is a grassroots feminist organisation founded in the late seventies.

Our next mag is out soon & I am really looking forward to reading it. Membership is £40 a year or £20 if you are on a lower income. We also hold feminist retreats.

Thank you- I've had a look and I would love to be a part of this. I have become very disillusioned with language in Midwifery recently.

I feel the same.

We are working really hard on this. Next issue is out in March so join up & you’ll get a copy. I have felt absolutely hopeless about midwifery journals for the past 18m, including the last few issues of Midwifery Matters. The next issue will be different.

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that ARM are talking about these issues.

They need support though. If you were on the fence about joining or rejoining please have a read of the website.

I guess i'm bumping this for the monday crowd. I also found a group online last called SEX NOT GENDER NM for GC RN & RM. Worth a look at their website (sexnotgendernm.wixsite.com/website) & they have a webinar coming up.

I'm in! I was a member 17 years ago in my student days. I stopped membership due to financial difficulties. I used to attend local meetings. I miss it.

Yey! I was a member when I was student too but like so many I fell away from it for a few years. It’s definitely a haven.
