I have to admire Hong Kong journalism for the factual approach of this headline, especially as the authorities have just ruled not to allow anyone to change their sex on their ID card unless they have had full surgery -

The journalism: yes. The ID rule: no.

I cannot condone requiring someone to modify their body. Neither is 'woman' a club that can be joined by performing a body-modification initiation.

Good point. I must admit I was relieved when I first learnt that 85% of transwomen do not have surgery. Men just should not be in women's spaces, not even modern eunuchs.
