advice for what we should do if the police visit?

It occurred to me that I have no idea what I should do if the police came to my door.

Am I right in thinking that if they request an interview you can refuse to attend until you have posted on MN?

Can anyone point a boring, conformist, clean living woman who may have written polite emails, harbour stickers and haberdashery (and who is definitely offensively female) in the direction of practical advice?

I think Ceri Black politely refused all invitations to go to the station, Marion Millar and PP both attended with a solicitor, and Granarchist went alone.

Because, frankly, I'm now at the stage of "bring it on".

A few years ago I would have agreed with you, Blueberry. I couldn’t understand the MN obsession with trans issues. I planned to complain to MNHQ about it, although I never did. But I kept on reading (both on and off MN) and very gradually changed my mind. I was on the fence for as long as two years before the cognitive dissonance cleared and I admitted to myself that I’d been wrong.

I’m glad that Gender Reassignment is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act. I’m not happy about the attempts to erase Sex as a protected characteristic and replace it with Gender/Gender Identity. These attempts have succeeded by the back door, to the extent that many UK organisations genuinely aren’t aware that Sex is a protected characteristic. Given that many, many women are still victims of sex discrimination every year, this really isn’t progress. Making the problem harder to identify, record or monitor won’t make it disappear.

I have also learnt that in a small minority of situations, women’s rights and trans rights do conflict with each other and it’s naive or dishonest to pretend otherwise. The most obvious example is in women’s sport. For every trans woman who is selected for their country’s Women’s Olympic team, a natal woman who would otherwise have qualified must be excluded. Could trans women compete in another category, perhaps an open or non-binary one? Apparently it’s hateful and bigoted to even ask the question.

I think Cattenburg that many of us come her the same way. Many of us, myself included, often recount how we came here, were horrified at the bullying intransigence of the posters here.

I did. I remonstrated with a few posters, some long gone, others still here. I had my backside handed to me in a sling a few times. I still came back, determined to make those horrid women see sense. But at some point, sport, talking to trans people I know, something clicked. That 'bullying intransigence' became determined repetition of facts and supporting women's rights

And here I am. Gender critical - and still friends with those same transgender individuals I have known for decades. There is no conflict between my GC beliefs and their trans status. None. Because there simply doesn't have to be.

@TurquoiseBaubles

Yes, you are obviously directing it at women. In fact, you and Barley seem to be running tag team on accusing women of defrauding donors to crowdfunders.

You really, really don't like women do you?

I don't recall accusing anyone of defrauding donors to crowdfunders. Please don't tell lies about me.

Are you partner or parent of someone who is trans? Or someone in your family?

Because you must see that identifying as the opposite sex is based on sexism.

If you are a woman, surely you understand that many young women are targeted precisely because of their sex. The pornography, the sexual harassment, the rape.

You must understand why they want to escape it?

And the converse is that there are men who want to reinforce it, by transitioning towards it. There is no way for a man to express himself 'as a woman', without relying on stereotypes. The very stereotypes that women are trying to escape.

Please tell me you see that.

Actually, that comment wasn't addressed to you. It was addressed to blueberry. I couldn't care less what you think.

@BlueberryCheezecake

See my post above.

Oh! So, someone did report bloobs for the general slur then?

And as a result my well thought out response, that only happpened to mention the slur in passing, has also been deleted?

Not fair @MNHQ!!

Datun · 26/01/2022 15:35

Crikey. Now everyone's been deleted for quoting blueberry.

I'll reiterate.

Blueberry, if you genuinely believe that the women here are wrong and it's highly unrepresentative of women in general and most women also think we're wrong, try posting your questions in AIBU.

This site is the biggest gathering of women in history, and AIBU is the most popular board. It's nothing if not representative of women.

If you think that women will all agree with you, go and ask them.

Blue can go and look at the poll results of the many threads which have managed to stay on AIBU on these topics.

It's awfully sweet of Blueberry to be so concerned with how we spend our pin money.

@FannyCann

Can I advise everyone to check their household insurance policy and if you don't have legal cover (which is usually an added extra) to add it on which shouldn't cost much more. I had reason to check mine out recently for an unrelated reason, they have a 24/7 helpline which gave me a little handhold late on a Saturday night and the next week a smart paralegal sorted everything brilliantly in a day. On the back of that I gave this same advice to another poster here who was threatened with an HR "meeting" for asking questions. They didn't expect her to come back with a decent lawyer and quickly backed down. She had been given excellent advice along the way.
I'm going to check this Fanny, thanks .

Now you're making me think I need to get a little job to pay for it all, rather than ask Hubs!

I can definitely feel there is something in the air at this moment. Like the sound of a million women having enough ... I've never wanted to march as much as I do right now.
