Greens select Kathleen Stock’s persecutor

"[Tom] Pashby, a 'trailblazing non-binary activist' in the words of a fawning profile by Pink News, describes himself as a Masters student at Brighton and a journalist at IEMA, who seeks to stop 'institutions sliding back into even more entrenched transphobia and queerphobia.' For their part, the local Greens are standing by Pashby, claiming: 'We welcome the selection of a candidate with lived experience as a trans/non-binary person' and that the campaign against Kathleen Stock merely saw Pashby using 'their experience as a campaigner to comment on the events and connect their fellow trans and non-binary students with journalists to help them get their perspectives heard.'

Does Kathleen Stock see it that way?"

Ye gods!

But how lovely to see mainstream media describing a PN piece as fawning Grin

WarriorN · 18/01/2022 14:48

They're quite dim really.

She says as a green member.

The abuse of stock was discussed and is known about by those in Parliament.

Not the best start to a "political career."

Luckily I know an awful lot of greens are equally dismayed.

ChristinaXYZ · 18/01/2022 15:28

. @CuriousaboutSamphire I thought that re PN

When did the greens ditch trying to save the planet in favour of utter hogwash?

HollowTalk · 18/01/2022 15:37

Yet another party we can't vote for.

ChristinaXYZ · 18/01/2022 15:41

I think @KittenKong that it was started by environjmentalists but has since become occupied by many younger people who just like the idea of being assoicated with environmentalism (virtue signalling if you like) and no nothing and care less. The first part of the article linked about points out the lack of interest in COP26 by one of their co-leaders

"Lorna Slater, the co-leader north of the border, told aides she didn't want to work every day of the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow – despite billing it 'the last chance to save the world.' Slater, who has now been dubbed 'Lorna Slacker,' told government officials she didn't want them to arrange more than 'two things in one day'"

I've voted Green many times but no more.

Is she the circus performer?

OneEpisode · 18/01/2022 16:41

The Spectator article links to the Brighton and Hove local paper which has various pronouns for the wannabe councillor. They (Pashby) should complain.
Would anyone like to complain on their (Pashby’s) behalf? The voters should know their (Pashby’s) pronouns are important, and not just vote for the bearded candidate thinking they (Pashby) is a white man, because they (Pashby) is not.

And what might Tom be doing to save the planet? It's not all about him right?

Oh, wait.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2022 16:47

Good to see that there are greens objecting to this though!

Omicrone · 18/01/2022 17:05

I have just looked at this person's social media and it's pretty clear to me that they are a man, and not even particularly gender non-conforming (unless you think that pink hair and a slightly eccentric dress sense signals not being a proper bloke?)

Do you know what, I really feel for that tiny minority of people who genuinely have gender dysphoria, who had full surgery and changed their whole life in order to try and find comfort and happiness, and who wanted to live their lives under the radar. Their whole experience has been appropriated and butchered by the current shower of idiots, largely white men, who it appears to me just want any excuse to be 'oppressed'.

The likes of Tom Pashby campaign for any fucking bloke to be allowed into any women's space, without giving one single fuck about the implications of that for the small number of males with genuine gender dysphoria, who up until recently had been allowed into female spaces as a massive privilege, because you know, females are nice like that.

Omicrone · 18/01/2022 17:13

From the Pink News article:

They added: “I wish it wasn’t such a big thing, in 2022, for a non-binary person potentially getting elected to public office. I hope that with every one of these ‘firsts’, the trans and non-binary community can start to be able to be treated better by wider society.”

Please. 'Firsts' my arse. This is a white man being elected to public office, its not 'trailblazing' in any way.

See also, Owen Hurcum as the 'first non-binary mayor'. Another white man (whose penchant seems to be for green hair rather than pink) being elected to public office. How is any of this progressive?

KittenKong · 18/01/2022 17:17

So you have the ‘firsts’ but who wants to be boring old second or third? I wonder what the next ‘amazing’ thing will be.

Of people did the job and did it well I would care if they said they were a teapot. But sadly - like the wee mayor - they seem to spend their time talking about themselves.

Exactly this! I too feel very sorry for genuine trans people struggling with dysphoria while these attention-seeking toddlers strut about ‘being special’. They’ve ruined it for trans people and they’re too self-centred to even notice.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 18/01/2022 17:48

Sorry I know I shouldn’t be laughing but honestly in what way exactly are they NB? If it walks talks and looks like a duck then you know…they is a bog standard white dude appropriating the struggles of genuinely oppressed and marginalised ppl to feather their own nest

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2022 18:32

Who seems to also be transWelsh.

I suppose we should just be grateful that each of these 'theys' is only one person... somewhat more than enough at that.

KittenKong · 18/01/2022 20:50

Thanks for the reminder - thems interview in the Stonewall series was a hoot.

MrGHardy · 19/01/2022 15:19

"with lived experience"

is there no gag or throwing up smiley?
