So a male who finished transition just four years ago, had established themselves in an acting career prior to transitioning, who spent at least 25 odd years being a male won an award set up to recognise female talent.
Female’s who have had to deal with sexist discrimination their entire life. Not getting opportunities or taking opportunities that were for ‘boys’ or seen as being a ‘boy thing’ for example.
Females who then enter a career that is misogynistic (when did #metoo happen again, and what miracles have transformed the industry since?), toxic to females, who deal with overwhelming beauty discrimination, ageism, sexism and so on.
These female category awards are to progress females who have achieved great things in spite of the oppression they receive.
Tell us again, how long has this male been transitioned?
And is recognized by the industry as a transwoman, a MALE.
Yes, this person has suffered hardships unique to tranisitioning.
In what way has this male’s journey meant they should take a female achievement award that recognises the sexist, ageist and other ‘ist discrimination?
I am in awe at the people who think this is right. Have they either forgotten what female category awards are for, or are they people who don’t care because why? It doesn’t affect them? Like women in sport? Women in this industry don’t deserve recognition or protection?
Because…. A male star has your sympathy? They deserve sympathy because of ‘their journey’? Their extreme cosmetic surgery? Their extreme hormone treatment?
