Announced today.

Hopefully this will keep up the pressure on the FCO.

Good.

Good news! and the walls come tumbling down ....

ShagMeRiggins · 10/01/2022 16:11

Is Stonewall’s champions lost still behind closed doors on the website? I’m just wondering if they’ve had any new sign-ins in the last six months or so, while so many government bodies are dropping them.

It’s hard to tell if this is a trend overall in the corporate world vs the power of Truss to ‘strongly recommend’ a review for all departments.

Either way, good. That level of lobbying leading to policy is hugely inappropriate—we will advise you to do what we want and then reward you for having done it. Nah.

Rightsraptor · 10/01/2022 16:16

I see there is 'unease' in Downing St about government departments leaving Stonewall's money making schemes. That'll be Carrie then.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/01/2022 16:24

I can see a wider issue for Government over the power of lobby groups so SW is becoming harder to justify.

Also in theory a Government shouldn’t need to be taught what the law says.

Diversity Champions -

sex-matters.org/stonewall-champions-list/

There is this 'proud employers' thing, that is from Stonewall. Founding members are Mi5, MI6, GCHQ, Nestle, BP ... all good wholesome fun.

Ooh, I see the Co op Bank is crossed off - hooray!

ArabellaScott · 10/01/2022 16:34

That's 13 gov depts that have left so far, by my count.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2022 17:46

Tick tock , gents. Tick tock.

I didn't even know the Co-op Bank was on Stonewall's list -- but I'm delighted that it's now off!

This is very telling. The Co-op Bank trades very strongly on its ethical reputation. I would have expected it to automatically toe the Stonewall line, and I'm impressed that it has thought this through and decided not to.

ArabellaScott · 10/01/2022 17:52

Yes, exactly my thinking, thinking. Also run by members so I wonder if decisions like this are maybe made by vote or something?

ArabellaScott · 10/01/2022 17:54

Hm ... this was 2018 ...

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/06/15/co-op-bank-refuses-account-to-feminist-group-after-it-actively-denied-trans-rights/

will see if I can find a non pink-news link.

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 10/01/2022 18:06

I can't bring myself to use the coop bank after they refused one of the women's groups an account, was it WPUK?, on the grounds that they are a hate group Hmm

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 10/01/2022 19:07

Ugh, I didn't know they had rejected a feminist group. And the Co-op bank is no longer owned by its members since it was taken over by a group of hedge funds a few years ago. It's really sad. It still has an ethical policy -- but I suspect the left's cock-eyed view of ethics these days would rule out feminist groups anyway.

ArabellaScott · 10/01/2022 19:08

Ahh, I'd forgotten about the take over. Hm.

I'm assuming (rightly or wrongly) that some of the orgs are leaving quietly and not publicising the decision?

If so, how do Sex Matters update the list?
I'm curious, cos i'd like to know if my employer has left and I reckon if they have left, they'd definitely do it in hushed tones.

I've had words with them about it before and their attitude stinks, frankly.

I think some are leaving quietly and hence the Sex Matters list is a prudent estimate, which is no bad thing. I'm guessing Sex Matter also has informants though. I saw someone on Twitter the other day say that their organisation (think it was public sector) was leaving but that they couldn't name the organisation until the end of March.

I think when one of the police forces left it was 'common knowledge' before it was 'public knowledge' due to a leak from a staff newsletter or something like that.

When you say their attitude stinks, do you mean your employer? Are they just ignoring the bad press etc?

Good

Not that nice if she is followed by Kier and cronies, not nice at all.
