...barred from her preferred event, the 400m for having overly high levels of testosterone...

Ah yes. The old ‘overly high levels of testosterone’ thats prominent in people who are really really really good at women’s sport.

NotBadConsidering · 08/01/2022 04:56

If Mboma was required to compete in the accurate sex category, Mboma would not have achieved anything noteworthy at all, let alone be worthy enough to win African SPOTY. But to describe Mboma as the “first female” to do so is an outright lie.

I wish these athletes were reported on accurately. The “too high testosterone” is actually normal male levels of testosterone, made from Mboma’s testes because Mboma has an XY DSD and has benefited from male puberty.

Why is it so controversial/political to wish that only women were eligible to compete in women’s sport?

"All those fastest times came shortly after Mboma was barred from her preferred event, the 400m, in July, after being found to have overly-high levels of testosterone.

The sport's governing body, World Athletics, bars all athletes with naturally-high levels of testosterone from contesting any races between 400m and the mile, arguing that it gives such athletes an unfair advantage."

The bbc is nuts. No mention of why Mboma's natural levels of testosterone is so high Hmm

NotBadConsidering · 09/01/2022 10:37

Nuts 😆😆

Well, exactly!

Who sits around and nods at the editorial meetings where this is all approved?

Mboma has stomped all over the dreams of many women to compete at high levels in athletics. The team behind her and the Olympics Committee, the international Athletics Federation and every other organization that has been part of this, know that Mboma is genetically male.

Truthlikeness · 09/01/2022 10:58

Mboma has 46 XY 5-ARD (5-alpha-reductase deficiency), a male VSD. This is not hidden, this is the condition the ruling specifically deals with. Why are people still pretending Mboma is female?

They developed exactly as any other male with a larger heart, more fast twitch muscle fibres, more haemoglobin in their blood, a narrower pelvis, a lower body fat percentage and has never had to deal with periods or hormone fluctuations interfering with their training.
