I completely agree. We cannot compromise, the original GRA was the thin end of the wedge and look where we are now. The various governments and devolved administration's made the promises about self ID so they need to find a solution which does not involve sacrifices from women.

Secure units (plural) for trans sex offenders - how many such offenders are there now and how many are they expecting?

I wonder if they'd object to a transwomen wing/dorm, all TW together.

Excellent idea. Separate secure prison units in male prisons for violent sexual offenders who are transgender, to protect them from those nasty men who make them feel unsafe.

I completely agree with you, but this specific question is interesting because it forces people to understand what self ID in prison means for women.

The secure units have to be in male prisons. No matter how separate they can be kept from the female prisoners (and as far as I can see they are often allowed to "socialise" or exercise or be educated in parallel), but the female prison staff must also be kept safe.

Vulnerable male prisoners can be kept separate from violent male prisoners in male prisons. Violent male prisoners can also be kept away from other male prisoners in male prisoners. Male trans prisoners can be kept safe from male prisoners in male prisons.
