www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/jk-rowling-should-national-treasure-have-many-spent-year-destroying/

Big double page illustrated feature in D Telegraph today. Print edition headline is "J.K. Rowling - national treasure, so let's treat her as one".

Deals with all the s*it she got from standing up for women as well as her struggles to get Harry Potter published.

Sorry if someone else has already posted this. Couldn't see.

The more I read about it, the more I am disgusted by the ungrateful little prats who made their names and fortunes from her and continue to profit from her. Despicable hypocrits.

Also, the more I am reminded of Orwell's words: "The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it."

It's behind a paywall.

You can get the gist from the headline and the opening paragraph.

I expect someone will be along shortly to say " but The Telegraph is right wing"

flyingbuttress43 · 01/01/2022 13:26

Yes, funny that. When it comes to standing up for women, the dastardly so-called right wing Telegraph is right up there. The so-called progressive Guardian - not so much.

No the Guardian is very anti-woman. Or used to be. I stopped reading it a year or so ago for this very reason.

I remember reading George Orwell as a teenager and never thinking that I would see all this come to pass in my lifetime. Same with The Handmaid's tale. We were so optimistic about feminism and women's rights back then. We thought we were winning.

My Grandma, 98, always says "The right think women are their private property and the left think we are public property"

Lucy mangan has reviewed the 20th anniversary show in the guardian and she's very sympathetic to JK. There were a few GC writers on the guardian but Hadley freeman and Susanne Moore both left recently sadly
