Thought you would all enjoy this little bit of guerrilla feminism spotted deep in the New Forest, Hampshire today. Brought a little Christmas cheer to my sister and I!

I can't be bothered to pick up all the aluminium cans, empty plastic bottles, emply glass bottles, empty crisp packets and so on that I see out on walks, so I don't think I'd be bothered overly much by a slate with a trans activist message on it. I've never been bothered by the trans activist stickers I see on lamp-posts.

Well, it's an interesting discussion.

Who controls what is shared on public land like parks or Forestry or roadsides or council owned land. We do have freedom of expression and that includes political expression. The suffragettes did a lot of chalking on public pavements. If we are banned from certain discussions on social media, this is an alternative that will likely be taken. And who is more often banned? Some demographics are less likely to have a platform and may look for inventive ways to share their messages.

I'm not convinced @ArabellaScott and the examples you show are not truly comparable to what I object to. There are some similarities, but the method of communicating those messages are done in a different setting.

I think some of us may need to agree to disagree with some other of us on this thread, that’s fine and it surprising.

I can completely see why people prefer nature to be ‘left alone’. I would agree in nearly every single circumstance. However, for many of us here, when it comes to standing up for women’s rights our ‘normal’ behaviour and standards we uphold do not apply in quite the same way. Such is our strength of feeling for this cause.

If I ever get a talking to from the police or from eco warriors I will apologise and then carry on another day or maybe just once they’re out of sight.

*not surprising

I quite often pick up random litter when I'm out on a walk. Not glass as it wouldn't be safe but crisp packets and the like , yes.

My objection is not about leaving nature alone, nor was EarthSight's. EarthSight had already pointed that out. That would be a ridiculous stance given how much of the UK is used for farming and commercial forestry.

My objection is I suppose the sheer arrogance of assuming public and private property is available for you (general you) to deface for your (general your) personal campaign/ pet peeve.

Leafstamp · 27/12/2021 21:29

Yes, well when women feel the powers that be are deliberately not listening or when it’s hard to speak up in your own name then these little acts of defiance help. If that makes me arrogant, then shrug. It’s nowhere near as arrogant as the men wanting to utilise my spaces and services.
