Quicker access to surgery, rather than better mental health care provisions by the sound of it:

So instead of teenage girls having time to accept their bodies and change their minds, they will be fast tracked to double mastectomies. How very progressive.
Still, the NHS is so hugely well funded, I am sure it can spare all those millions to render children infertile and incapable of later breastfeeding. Oh, wait…

If this means extra mental health support, that's a good thing.

Only, of course, anyone who mentions 'trans' is de facto not in need of mental health support, only fast tracked to the hormones and surgeons.

Well, hey, what could possibly go wrong? Probably this doesn't go far enough.

Propose puberty blockers in the water so all theybies can be genderfree until they decide which Genderscope they feel a spiritual affinity with - this gender can then be provided by an outsourced group of medics - cheaper overseas, I hear. It could even be pick n mix, so kids can choose which organs and body parts they feel really deeply match their innate soul.

We could have body part swaps! A recycling scheme! Yay Green policies!

'TRANS HEALTH MANIFESTO

'Trans health is bodily autonomy. We will express our needs, and they will be met. We will change our bodies however we want. We will have universally accessible and freely available hormones & blockers, surgical procedures, and any other relevant treatments and therapies. We will end the medical gatekeeping of our bodies. '

littlbrowndog · 21/12/2021 13:12

Wonder if they know how difficult it is to get a nhs dentist now or the waiting list of 4 years for orthopaedic appointments

ArabellaScott · 21/12/2021 13:13

'We demand the freedom to alter our bodies without justification. We demand an end to all surgical prerequisites - nobody should have to prove life experience, health or have to be taking hormones in order to exercise bodily autonomy. We demand that these surgeries can be highly customised to meet our individual & unique needs. We demand the right to multiple surgeries, including reversal of previous surgeries if desired, so that we do not have to fear regret. We demand the free & timely provision of genital surgeries, additive & reductive chest surgeries, hysterectomies and orchiectomies, tracheal & vocal surgeries, facial surgeries, lipoplasty, contouring & microdermabrasion, surgical hair removal & transplantation, and any other possible procedure to meet our needs as we express them.

We demand resources for hair removal anywhere on our bodies, and the option of local anesthetic during these procedures. '

ArabellaScott · 21/12/2021 13:14

'We demand the revocation of medical licenses from all gender clinic doctors & nurses, past and present.
...
We demand medical training to enable us to safely carry out medical procedures & research for each other, for anyone of us who wants to learn. '

ArabellaScott · 21/12/2021 13:15

'We demand immediate release & pardon for all trans prisoners.'

The ScotGov could have saved quite a lot of time and effort had they just c&p'd these demands straight into legislation.

escapingthecity · 21/12/2021 13:19

Why should waiting lists for non life threatening cosmetic surgery be shorter than those for (for example) joint replacement? Or any other number of surgeries we could mention.

They can join the queue like everyone else. Personally I think any decent surgeon should refuse to perform mastectomies on healthy breasts.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/12/2021 21:27

3 million a year for 3 years. For a tiny population who are already supported by the STA who got, I think, 3million over 5 years - and seem to have done fuck all with it apart from advise on subjects they have no expertise in, like justice and refuges and health.

That's a lot of money at a time where there is a lot of financial pressures on Holyrood.

Curiouser and curiouser.

ArabellaScott · 21/12/2021 23:14

Yes, isn't it, vivarium. Considering CAMHS are said to be struggling to provide any help at all, for any C&YP.
