Haven't seen any thread on this - Lynda Carter has tweeted about the recent JkRowling tweet but doesn't she realise she's supporting male rapists?

She has received a tonne of replies all pointing it out to her - hasn't she read them? And if she doesn't read any of the replies, why bother tweeting?

Lynda carter was wonder woman on TV when I was a kid.

She's not actually wonder woman though! I mean obviously. I can understand the disappointment but who knows what she's like, what her views are generally.

And she has been v vocal Twitter twaw for ages.

I can understand where the TWAW set are coming from, though

I know a couple in real life and unlike on twitter, we can talk about it and see each others viewpoints and agree to disagree because a) I understand that in their heads they are trying to redefine the word 'woman' to mean something else rather than they actually believe TWAW, and b) they can understand that I don't actually want all trans people to die etc.

But JkRowling's latest tweet is specifically about rapists and other violent abusers CLAIMING to be trans women when they are not, and I cannot understand why anyone would condemn her for that unless they really do not understand the impacts of this issue!!

That's a good point rabbit . Too nuanced for the cess pit that is Twitter though. It's not catchy enough and takes more than a moment to think about.

It’s not the nuance, it’s the Catch 22. If trans activists accept that these rapists are only claiming to be women to be placed in a women’s prison, they have to acknowledge that self-ID will bring such problems.

But those who claim these rapists are women if they say so, need to acknowledge that males, however they identify, pose a threat to women and need to be treated as a sex class for safety reasons.

I think they understand the issue, but can’t openly admit to themselves and others what is glaringly obvious.

I am glad more and more folk are speaking out against all this trans bashing. I don't agree with men in womens prisons either. Doesn't mean I'm in favour of bigotry surrounding trans people. Its constant and getting very embarrassing.

@Viviennemary if you believe that TWAW but also believe that men shouldn't be in women's prisons, you would be branded a transphobe by a vocal contingent of TRA's because TWAW.

Women have raised the issues around self ID and fears about predatory men taking advantage of it for years now but have been branded transphobes. There has been no acknowledgement that you can support trans rights but also have concerns about self ID.

I find it embarrassing that some people defend the right for male sexual offenders to be placed in the female estate on their own say so. The Judicial Review acknowledged that women will be at risk and in fear in such situations but ruled that it just isn't important. It shows an astounding lack of empathy but then, as we know, 'be kind' doesn't appear to extend to women.

Raising concerns is branded 'trans bashing' or a 'dog whistle'. I am glad that no debate has fallen and we can finally talk about these issues.

There was another thread about women masturbating in public.

One of those women ( www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/teesside-woman-accused-using-sex-22260053 ) was "charged with committing a public nuisance by indecently exposing her penis to other members of the public, whilst masturbating from a property window".

It's worrying that she might be happier in prison.
