Margaret McCartney and other female medics (including the splendid Susan Bewley) have shown leadership in this field and printed several key pieces in the BMJ.

I'm resigned to some of the reaction that she's getting and I don't underestimate what this will cost her. Even so, that's a shocking reaction from Richard Ma and I'll be surprised to the point of horror if it continues to stand.

The term 'dog whistle', along with the word 'transphobia' has been rendered meaningless through overuse.

It does trans people no favours at all to ignore the realities of their biological sex.

How do mtf transitioners benefit by pretending that issues exclusive to the male sex (eg problems with the prostate) will never affect them? How do ftm transitioners benefit?

Answer: they don't.

There's someone on that thread called Dr Duncan McGregor who is claiming that Margaret McCartney is wrong because some people have DSDs, some people are infertile and nobody examines your chromosomes. I do hope that person isn't really a medical doctor.

I'm not on Twitter so I can't see the replies. However, I can't see how this has become new information or controversial.

Yes, he is a medical doctor. Co-Chair for GLADDUK. I'm embarrassed for him and for GLADD that he's so disrespectful to Margaret and to people with VSD. Will people never listen to the people who repeatedly ask to be left out of this?
