Material girls reflection

I filled in a research questionnaire for someone where 'sex' was being replaced with 'gender', but also included trans gender identities (female gender incl trans woman, male gender incl trans man). For the first time I felt like ticking 'none' 🙄 I'm half way through 'Material girls' and the logical inconsistency of the use of 'gender' was really annoying.

There are so many stupid questionnaires out there. I think whoever comes up with them thinks they have to 'do something' about the sex/gender question to give the appearance that they give a crap about this nonsense, so they add a jumble of shite in the hope it appeases the gender zealots. They are probably better off not asking the question at all instead of gathering meaningless data.

If the gender question has the option for 'other' with a free text box I always tick that and write 'I don't have a gender, my sex is female'.

I would, but funnily enough there were only two options, no comments box, and I did not identify with either! This is why I felt 'not only they confuse these two terms but also are doing it inconsistently'. 🤦‍♀️ Interesting to see this theme popping up in the other thread about the use of 'gender' instead of 'sex' in data collection.

I filled in a survey for Southern Co-op yesterday about board representation, lots of use of gender which I commented on. Think we need to keep mentioning the protected characteristics which are SEX, not gender.

Exactly. These organisations have the potential to break the law if they are not collecting the correct information and assessing against it. I think many Trustee Boards (perhaps older people) would be interested in risk to the organisation. Find a specific example from a credible source that impact the type of organisation and refer to that.

I always do this now.
