The thread shows photos of letters that other residents have sent with the answers.

Over £40 spent on crossings that don't really help anyone and promote one group only.

Seems to be overrun by kids who don’t understand or care about their actual job.

@Clymene

I am aware that it's not the same crossing - I made it clear in the post where I linked the video.

Not really the point though. Crossings - pelican, zebra (or elephant), are designed to help pedestrians cross roads more safely. Which this fails to do.

Women's toilets, refuges, rape crisis centres and hospital wards were designed to provide services to women. Which they now fail to do. There's a common theme here, isn't there?

I may make a fortune next year on a lecture circuit across all LAs and govt departments teaching the idea of 'mission creep' and 'core brief' and 'basic common sense a toddler could manage'.

Artichokeleaves · 01/12/2021 15:40

I could have a points system! And a flag.

KittenKong · 01/12/2021 16:01

Metro headline today ‘Two homeless people died every day of pandemic last year’. How many homeless in Camden?

Artichokeleaves · 01/12/2021 16:04

I wonder what £40,000 would achieve in real terms for them this winter? Wicked waste of money.

KittenKong · 01/12/2021 16:05

It would keep their trussell collection point going for a few weeks.

KittenKong · 01/12/2021 16:22

Oohhh - the daily Mail has picked this up! Other councils have done the same...

RepentMotherfucker · 01/12/2021 16:28

Someone I know has repeated dealings with Camden in a professional capacity. Apparently the councillors are locked in an internecine battle of personality and wills over absolutely everything and it's impossible to get anything done the way it should be as a result.

Mine has! And their policies have been Stonewalled too I believe. They are my next mission...
KittenKong · 01/12/2021 16:37

We just have silly ‘art’ ones where someone very sensible decided to put words over the road which are hard to read (still. It sure what they say) so people stop in the middle of a 4 lane street to read it.

Must do a FOI on ‘how many people crossing the road have been squished whilst trying to figure out what the bloody words painted on the crossings say’.

My dad's local council has been discussing doing this. Meanwhile my brother who uses a wheelchair still can't come and visit my dad without a load of hassle because there's no money for disabled access to/from the station.

Our LA is consulting on not providing SEND school transport anymore.

But trans crossings? Bring it on!

Stupid twats.

KittenKong · 01/12/2021 18:41

Sigh. I despise at humanity I really do...

What an embarrassing waste of money. If this was done in my name I'd be furious. Even if it didn't have the potential to confuse some people and animals, who can possibly think this stupid frivolous, virtue-signalling nonsense is a priority when there are so many people (including trans people) who rely on under-resourced services of all kinds.

KittenKong · 01/12/2021 18:59

That’s it - if they want to help trans charities then give them the money. It’s all performance.

ScreamingMeMe · 02/12/2021 16:20

Tomorrow is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. I wonder what local authorities and big corporations will be doing to mark the day and show their support for people with disabilities?

Artichokeleaves · 02/12/2021 16:31

Since there will be no incentive points involved from a large corporate and no possibility of awards, and no sunk costs into a very expensive membership scheme that requires you to demonstrate social media and other actions on the day, I'd think zero.
