I am secretary of our local running club and we're in the process of updating our safeguarding policy.

The draft policy currently reads '.......regardless of age, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, or ethnic origin has the right to be protected.....'

I've added just one word, so the policy now reads '......regardless of age, sex, gender identity....' and so on.

Just a little tweak. 😊

Can I share a little win of a different kind?
Today, someone who I follow in insta sent me a news story about a "woman" flashing "her" penis and masturbating in a car park (bad woman, naughty woman) We don't know each other irl and I always tread a fine line in what I say on insta. But it feels like I've done just enough that those who know, know. Felt quite chuffed and always suspected she was GC.

Great work, can you change gender identity to gender reassignment?

Technically "gender Identity" is not a protected characteristic, "gender reassignment" is.... But that's great you were able to add the legally protected characteristic of sex.

The list there is a partial list of the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 (there's a couple missing). As others have said, 'gender identity' is not defined in law and is not a protected characteristic. The correct one is 'gender reassignment'
