I'd like to add my thanks too, MissLucy for all your brilliantly helpful wok on this thread; navigating it, morbidly fascinating as it is, would have been much harder without you, Motorina and so many other amazing contributors.
I had a really horrible thought, though. Someone upthread (can't remember who, apologies!) pointed out that the next stage of this process, should Moronboy wish to appeal, is the High Court. This, I would imagine, is a seriously potent weapon in a usual disciplinary process. When you're dealing with a doctor who a) is sane; b)doesn't want to throw away a career he's worked ten years for and c) doesn't wish to be pilloried in newsprint and SM.
Problem is, our hero is none of these things, and if he has gamed this through.. perhaps High Court was always his endgame? And I don't imagine the GMC would relish the prospect of Haddock giving unsanctioned interviews during a High Court action, leading to questions about how this dangerous idiot wasn't weeded out at a much earlier stage of the proceedings?
(I know he'd be an absolute moron to give interviews should that happen, but he's got previous..)
